This may not be such a problem if you race with the rear glass open a bit. Also, if you bypass the old cooler, remember that it's removal will save you a bit of weight.

Or at least you won't gain any with the new rad etc ......................

I did have the idea of a 135degree bend with a pair of straight pieces going into the chargecooler (on one end) and pipe on the other......could run this lot into the space where the intercooler was. Just dont know whether its worth the hassle???? I dont think the addition of the chargecooler is going to add much hindrance to the system. What does the intercooler weigh???

Intercooler weight

I reckon they weigh about 3 or 4 kilos. It will make the turbo lag worse if you keep both as its another restriction in the system, how much will depend on how well the chargecooler flows. How about putting another one in place of the second plenum and join them together. Run both off the same pump.

lol, you lot...

It wont make lag worse because the length or volume of the system hasnt been increased..

It will cause a pressure drop from turbo to throttle body due to added restriction, but not hinder spool up response, as it isnt a restriction when the air speed levels are low, only when on full boost and high revs when engine CFM is high..

Wot you know about it :!: :lol: :lol: :lol:It won't make lag worse ,but if you bin the std intercooler it will reduce the flow length and lag . The chargecooler is twice as efficient as the std one so ..........................

even if it made lag worse i doubt you would ever notice it, my dad had a pulsar gtir and fitted a front mount kit the pipe run was loads longer but didnt really notice an increase in lag

Thats right. So many people think long pipe lenghts on front mounts make lots more lag, but its a myth...

To put it into context, the 2.5 engine, at 1000rpm with a 55mm internal inlet area, the air is flowing at a minimum of 17 feet per SECOND with no boost!..so you can work out how long its going to take for the air to wizz round the extra piping ! :lol:

The shorter the pipe the less the lag, 17'/sec's not that fast ,I can run faster than that :lol: :lol:

17 feet per sec,
for me that is 17 x 60 sec x 60 min x 12 inches x 2.54 cm =768,096 cm/sec
or 18.6kmh approx 11.7 mph (is that right?). lee, if correct,you should be OK.

BUT , when on-boost, i'd guess it is a very different story????

At 2000rpm, its around 36 feet per second, at 2500 and 2 psi of boost 60 feet per second....

And just for finishing, at 5750rpm, 14psi of boost 258 feet per second!
