Unfortunately it's us guys without the CC that are makeing this idle chit-chat.
I'm guessing that those with a CC are a bit more busy-busy than us.

Lee....I'm sure if you pay David £600 he will let you test the Charge cooler power figures!!!!! :lol: The problem is you'll also be looking at at least £25 for extra silicone hose and 2 RR sessions on top......hence why there wont be any before and after figures. Its a pretty much guarunteed power enhancer. Think about how fast your car feels on a cold morning?? It will be like that even in summer.....and the retarded ECU wont retard the igntinion so much either :lol:

Don't run it at that level for long, you'll use it all up....... :?

:? ........i just dont get it. why spend alot of hard to come by cash on some great products but not check out the gains on a rolling road?

are you not a fan of rolling roads peter?

it is a positive method of measuring any modifications you are doing, so at least you know if you are making worth while gains instead of just wondering!

I think because Peter is interested in actually making the car feel and go faster than worrying about the power figure. Making 30bhp more on a rolling road, but not actually improving his times or driving doesn't help much! :lol:

The chargecooler is a guaranteed power and torque increase, but it would be nice to know how much.. :)

IMHO rear engined cars don't show to well on RRs as they really need the airflow which a fan on the rad can't copy. The intercooler doesn't really work on a RR so the figures aren't really representitive.
Also the engines get too hot etc etc..

As the existing intercooler gets no airflow even when on the road and the mod is to rectify this it's ideal for a RR test :roll: :wink:

I suppose it would help if rear engine RR tests were carried out with the rear hatch open, just to let most of the heat out.

Or point it backwards on the RR and stick it in reverse :lol:

There is some airflow (suction rather than airflow), Clearly not alot, but some. Whereas a RR has none at all. I was really impressed by your RR results, but I think 'on the road' real power should be even better.

The same is true of atmo cars as well. There's an impressive amount of heat dragged out of the car when on the move (not necessarily enough, but alot), but lifting the engine cover on a RR isn't comparably effective.

RR tests would be nice, but if i tested everything I did or bought in this fashion I would spend the money for several events! I dont have a particularly local RR so it also involves the best part of a day by the time Ive arrived, got on and then landed home.
I'm far more interested in knowing that on the last run of the day at Barbon in the middle of June when its sweltering hot and the car is virtually glowing hot that my engine is going to have a bit of extra power that it wouldnt have had to match the knowledge I have accrued during the day of the track......to beat my times and if possible win!
I know that my GTA was faster last September than it was the year before because I went throught the Harewood speed trap at 70mph (with the misfire..RIP!! :D in near identical weather conditions) not 66 like the year before......what else could possibly matter???
RRs are a nice toy, but you only really need them to tune a car (which at the kinute doesnt have much possibility).....otherwise they are just a measure that you pay through the nose for to say how much power the particular RR says your car has (and theyre all different)on a given day.

I agree with all you say Peter :shock: but if you're shelling out £600 for a piece of tuning /performance kit ,it would be nice to have some indication of gains expected other than ' it should work well ' :lol:
Down to the supplier/manufacturer to provide this methinks :wink: They could pay for the RR testing and then be able to quote the figures , adding
to increased sales I expect :mrgreen:

I think, like stripping the car of weight, that the chargecooler kit is a guarunteed improvement (once the engine is warm).....but if the supplier would like before and after figures I'd be glad to do it on an expenses paid basis....in the name of science and progress :D
