window winder mec

How do you get this out?
The book says "free the window ball joint from the bottom of the window"

I can't find this let alone free it.
Any help greatly appreciated :?

I just undo the 3 mouting bolts and wiggle it out no problems..

finally got the whole thing out the winder is full of what appears to be string is this wadding to keep it lubricated or is it just gunk. :?

2 bolts for the window stop on the mechanism tube at the top.

2 more bolts holding the mechanism tube to the door.

3 bolts holding the motor to the door.

Just slide the nylon block out of the support at the bottom of the glass

The wadding is to keep the metal spiral lubricated.

Just been doing a window today too!

Is there any adjustment? My drivers side window never seems to go up as far as the passenger side and I can see why not!!!

There seems to be a little adjustment on the screw and plate on the slider at the bottom of the window. However my passenger window doesn't go as far down as the Drivers is this right or should it go all the way down? :o

peterg, it could be that the drivers side has seen more use and is wearing out a bit.

red leo, could be that passengers side has seen less use and is begining to find it too much like hard work to wind down to the end of its travel.

The window winder motors have little cut-outs in them that stop the motor when it draws too much current because it can't move for some obstruction - like the top of the door frame or a small child's neck. If the window is not entirely free to travel up and down then the motor will just cut out when the going gets too tough. I also have suspicions that as the motor and associated connections get older, they will draw more current and the cut outs will start to work at lesser and lesser motor power as time goes on. The ones I've seen that have been really crap have had a bit of corrosion around the base of the little bi-metalic cut out where it is attached onto the motor body. A general clean of connections and lubrication of the mechanism might help but new motors may be the only solution in the long run.

Yes there is an adjustable stop at the top of the regulator. Loosen the two nuts in the large white plastic washers, adjust and tighten.

There is about 1 cm of adjustment.
