do you just put shims between the subframe and the brackets that hold the wishbones :? I'll take it for a full check next week but i would like to know how it should be done :?

Yes shims are added or removed between the lower arm front bracket and the subframe. On the GTA there are 3 different thicknesses of shims that can be in place, I'm not sure if this is the same on the 610. It's a pro job though really.

If your tyres have been under-inflated it could have exacerbated the problem though......... just a thought.

No, i meant toe in...

All GTA's/A610s run a fair bit of toe in, and negative camber as standard, and they do wear the inside edges more than anywhere else as standard....So combined with the neg camber, if you have too much toe in than standard, it will wear those inside edges quicker...

Its an Alpine...theres your answer..

Sorry to shoot you down David, but TOE OUT causes wear to the inside of the tyre. Excessive negative camber will also wear the inside. GTAs do get quite a lot of toe change toward toe out in the rear, as they go through their suspension movement. If set up with toe out in the rear initially, it can tend to make the car unstable at high speed, although a lot of dirt rally cars are set this way to make them slide easier for corners.

Yes, toe-out does cause the inside edges, but the GTAs run negative camber as Steve also pointed out, so any amount of toe-in OR out on our cars would cause more excessive inside wear. Lots of toe-in on a GTA won't make the outside edges wear, as they are hardly ever touching the ground. Seeing as we can't adjust the lower rear wishbones for toe out (as it it only adjustable at the back end by shims) and we can only increase toe in, then overshimming it will increase wear...

Thus excessive toe-in on OUR cars, will increase the wear...

Hi Jamie,
My A610 had full tread on the outside of the tyre when bought and I didn't bother looking too closely once I got it.
After 1500 miles I had a couple of "rear slide" moments in the wet and decided to have a look- guess what, no tread in the centre and inward half of the tyre. I was embarrassed when the tyre shop changed them - the tread in the centre was bald. Not quite like yours- the inside edge was OK.
I'm (still) running Pzeros- but tyre wear does seem to be high at the back, fronts don't seem too bad.
I've been planning a 4 wheel alignment check; I've even bought some shims from Stephen but not got to it yet.
Tell us all what you find!

Cheers
Lee

If I've got the link to the picture set up right above is a similar example from the rear of my GTA atmo. The wear is on the inside edge. Although this time it maybe to do with the fact that it has 17" AZEVs on the rear & not the orig wheels?

I have had the geometry checked by Roadspeed & they confirmed all in tolerance. However not sure how detailed this check was?

Sorry no answer but will be interested to see where this thread goes

Chris at Roadspeed does some kind of suspension tweek to reduce rear tyre wear and he did this on my A610 around 18 months ago (before I bought it). The Dunlop 9000s I fitted all round are wearing quite evenly. Handling is still great and the car has been driven as it was designed to be. Must be worth asking him about it. :)
Driving an A610 is just so sublime.
