Cost point of view

Postby Tony Smith » Thu Mar 23, 2006 3:43 pm

if you want to keep the cost to a minimum then sticking with the original engine is the best bet. All the other PRV's don't drop straight in as they are in transverse cars and you will need to rob several parts off your original engine - and all of them are naturally aspirated not turbo. Also a non-original engine will de-value the car and most classic car insurance companies will not insure you either - I had to argue my case big time when I put my Safrane biturbo lump in - even though it looks very similar to the untrained eye. If Davids engine doesn't come through I will have a few quite soon providing current plans come to fruition.

The benefit of starting with the Laguna base though, is the option to turbo (or twin turbo  ), as with the engine I am building..

When you work out the cost of a full rebuild of an original Z7U, (rings, shells, gaskets, seals, o rings, chains etc) it works easily into hundreds just for parts..
