The main reason why they recommend the DV near the TB is to keep the vacuum feed to the top of the dump valve as short as possible, so there is less pressure drop on the pressure feed, but this is mainly for 4 or straight 6 enigines, where the turbo is one side of the head, and the inlet on the other. On our engines, where the feed comes out the centre of the inlet manifold, the length is no different.
