Well for me it all kicks off at my least favourite venue (Teesside) on Friday and boy have I got some serious opposition this year. Theres an Evo 8 entered, a 5T2 that has just had an engine rebuild and mapping (at great expense) and a mid engined Ginetta that appears to be totally illegal in the class but that the comittee have allowed to run anyway after a vote.
I'm hoping for rain as it'll make it easier for me to get the GTA round the tight back bends without pulling the muscles in my arms!! Will also be trouble for the guys in the T2......I predict a few spins for them :D

Another day another win!!!! The evo didnt show, and I pipped the fastest of the 2 guys in the T2 by 2/10ths of a second (2 minute course)......phew, close! 8) Have got a bit of a misfire as well......roll on the Isle of Man!!

No points sorting done.....I will just have to marshall the last event if it looks like I'm winning. That T2 will be a big threat though, so I'm not banking on anything!!!!

Isle Of Man here I come!!!! Misfire is all sorted and the car feels very sprightly. No idea of the entry list but I'm only there for fun .....Ive no doubt it will be full of Evos and Scoobies, lets hope they dont all have Burberry caps to suit :lol:

I have had my entry confirmed (no 94), collected MSA licence today, 6 gallons of fuel in the car, other fluids checked, been genning up on the little blue book, got championship membership card this week, harness all fitted now, checked the weather forecast, just need to fabricate a timing strut and fit some wheel nuts which are scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Suit, helmit, boots and numbers are all ready and will pack the car tomorrow evening.
Apart from getting up early on a Saturday, should all be ok, I just hope that those 750cc Austin 7s don't completely wop me.
What sort of time does one need to arrive at, as registration and scruteneering starts at 7:30. I thought 8 would be quite a civilised arrival time?

Oh yes, better recheck the tyre pressures. Am I obliged to weigh my car down with all those PPC stickers?

Simon,
You could get there for 8 ish but it doesn't leave much time to do the final prep on the car and walk the hill, which I highly recommend as it's your first time there.
I generally get there for 7 o'clock and signed on and ready by the 8.30 start even though my first run normally takes place around 9.30.
Those Austin 7's have a 34.53s hill record? (According to the 2005 results :lol: ) and an average time of about 48s so you should be ok. Hopefully you should be parked three places down from my slot in the paddock.

Wow....what an event!!!!!!! The line up of cars was jaw dropping :D Earliest was a 1916 model T ford, right up to a new Porsche Cayman....with 3 GT40s, a Lancia Stratos, a supercharged Dodge Viper, a 7litre race tuned Camaro, a Merc SL 55 AMG (beat him twice :D ), several EVOs, Jag E-types, Caterham R500 evo, in total 100 cars.
The night event on Thursday was a sprint up one of the main roads in Douglas (Brae hill sprint) past rows of semis, shops and police HQ!!!!! It was flat out all the way and almost a straight line. The road car class contained 21 runners I finished 10th in class and 20th out of the 100 or so cars. I was doing 125mph over the finish line on a bumpy road. It was an absolute scream! Friday we went off for a pursuit sprint at Jurby and after a few problems I managed to record a time and got 2nd place in the road car class (out of 11) beating the Lancia Stratos, a Porsche Carrera 4, Merc SL55 AMG, A Nissan Sunny GTI-R, an Integrale and an E-type amongst others. It was a scorching hot day too and I managed a spot of sunburn :shock: My trophy be winging its way to me in the next week or so. The last event was the Lhergy Frissell hillclimb on the mountain road section of the TT course.....a few too many hairpins for the GTA unfortunately and I could only manage 5th out of 12.....pipped to 4th by the Carrera4 and totally destroyed by the GTI-R and a Porsche GT3 that turned up.
What a great few days...the Isle of Man is a really nice place and the locals very friendly....will be back next year for sure. Anyone going to join me??? :D

Sounds like an awesome line up.
Perhaps this sort of event will encourage more exotic entries into sprints and hill climbs.

for a 1st event, very enjoyable, especially since I made "good" first 64ft feet times, .5 better than the others I was with. I saw 2.25 secs to 64 ft but Red21 blew me away with a 5 second overall faster time. However, he has done the hill about 50 times more than me...... so far.

Thats a good launch even for drag racing...Thats around 2 seconds for 60ft, even high power 4wd machinery on good rubber are lucky to pull 1.8 seconds for 60ft, though a friend of mine has done a 1.5 in a FWD Renault 5.. :lol:

The thing about 64 feet is that under 1G acceleration you reach 64 feet in 2 seconds because Distance = Half Acceleration (inG) times Time squared. As 1G is approx. 32.1 feet per second, 16ft in 1 sec, 64 feet in 2 secs.
