I give up :x I know the chargecooler isn't just a tube ,I was answering the ' jump out of a furnace into the pool ' analogy .
I didn't say it would do nothing ,I said it won't do much .
If it works that well then Peter won't need to get it circulating , he's only on the track for a couple of minutes at a time

No, it won't do much, but it will do more than air.

It would start to fall off in efficiency after about 10 seconds of continous hot boost with no flowing water, but was still sufficient to emphasize the lean out he was getting on initial full boost, showing how good the unit is at absorbing peak charge temperatures instantly and thus a denser charge..

I finally got the CC working properly yesterday....the thing had been hugely airlocked which had stopped the pump moving any water. Put a hose pipe on to it and bingo all working properly now!!! At Teesside today it was a warm spring day and my engine was roasting at the end of every run......the body of the chargecooler was actually cold to the touch...not even mildly warm....it was like a mini fridge!!!! Very impressive.

I thought the CC would be of great benifit after several runs, like accelerating through the gears, when the turbo heat is saturating the turbo plenum and the whole system is over heating....... when all we want is nice cool air.
Any way, it will be interesting to see something.

Doh  Just posted this in the forsale and wants

Just thinking of the best place to mount the Charge cooler rad on the T2 :? I was hoping that it might have gone into one of the side pods, but even with a custom rad it would be tight.
So its looking like front mounted :? tight(ish) up in front of the main rad.
Any ideas on the air flow restriction through the coolent rad? A lot? A bit?
I was thinking of not bothering wit the fan on the CC (which would restrict it more) as the aux puller fan on the main rad is going to pull air through both rads?
ANY THOUGHTS

This guy runs one in front of the radiator, the engine guy said the intake temps never went above 35deg c!
Worked crazily well...

What were your intake temps on these runs? From what you've said, it might suggest your pre-rad massively exceeds your CC for efficiency.

If you mount the CC pre rad behind the water rad, you will be feeding it warm air which will be not much good at all.

If you mount it infront of the water rad, you will get good air flow and cooling at speed, however when going slow the air flow will be poor and when at a standstill, the radiant heat from the water rad will soak into the CC rad.

Why are you not keen on a fan? The fan would give you good airflow ALL of the time, which is what you need for keeping the system cool.
