if it is a mechanical one, perhaps the tube to the gauge is pinched somewhere? what have you been doing?
Could try putting the gauge in the engine bay to test the vacuum on idle.

As Simon said, boost gauge pipe restricted somewhere, oil/residue in the boost gauge pipe, or gauge is fooked, or your throttle is stuck wide open and your turbo is running flat out permanently, but I doubt its the latter..

I'll check me pipework a bit more thoroughly first then , test the gauge further back down the line .

Could you have disturbed the pipe where it runs down the interior of the car?

mine has started to play up too.
boost is ok, but hardly any vacuum at idle.
I think I'm going to swap the plastic tube for a rubber pipe. I'm suspicous that the hot turbo gasses are making the tube warm and then it is cooling in a deflated flat state.

Normally you find it gets hot, then the engine vacuum sucks it flat and it stays there...then it will expand on boost, and then shrink back flat the moment you let of the throttle, hence the slow 'off boost' reading..

Exactly what i'm suspicous about, but should not happen with a rubber hose, I'm hoping.
