I've been told that the discs(same size all round and ventilated?) are the same as ones fitted to Citroen Xantias. Is this true? What about pads, are they used in other Renaults or other makes? Does anyone know the relevant part numbers?

No, not Xantias. Renault 25 2,0 and Espace 2.0 1985-1990
