I have always suspected you lot are mad. Now I know you are :twisted:
My handbook says there is no benefit using higher than 95 octane fuel as it will not improve performance. In view of the price, I am inclined to believe it! Maybe A610s are better behaved than GTAs? 8)
Driving an A610 is just so sublime.

Higher octane fuel does work but the only real thing it will do in an untuned beast is give better fuel economy and a very mild difference in performance. I've tried it with my merc 230 you do notice the difference between the 2 fuels 95 or 99 in the uk.........

we have started to blend our own fuel for the race car..... 3 parts 100 ron and 1 part 120 ron and we end up with 105 at much cheaper price than this BP stuff...... more than 60p a litre cheaper :!:

and the car runs well on it :wink:

Its because the A610 has lower compression and was design to work with 95, wheras the GTA is much higher compression and needs better fuel to prevent knock..

Higher octane fuel wont reap any benefits, unless you want to run more aggressive ignition timing or more boost, or you car is knocking in the first place and retarding the ignition, then the higher octane fuel may prevent this and thus improve performance..

Well before you guys started singing, DG as usual, came up with the answer. The A610 is lower compression and more powerful even without ridiculously expensive fuel so I will keep on buying cheap (£4.32 a gallon today) fuel and enjoy the performance. After all it only takes £75.00 to fill my tank when empty. Now where did I put that Prius brochure? :?

Yeah!, How come the petrol prices are cheaper down in the South west... when I come up to London for work in the week I try to buy as little as possible.

On the subject of the thread hoever, of course the trick fuels have a massive effect if the engine is set up to use it...

A friend gets his rally car fuel delivered in drums to his work so his wife doesnt find out how much it costs..... gonna end in tears :cry:

The A310s will run OK on standard unleaded but they run cooler and throttle response is slightly crisper when using 97/98/99 octane stuff.
Alpine A110, Renault Safrane 2.5dt, Hudson Kindred Spirit (Renault powered), transAlp (Honda) and Ducati Multistrada
