No never even looked at it! The cover bolted up very easily so there shouldnt be any damage, certainly nothing had to be forced.

You want the late GTA/A610 type fork arm. 7700853287

You have a late car so probably have this already. If you post a good picture of the one you have will be able to tell you which one it is for certain.

The old type is a ticking timebomb!

In the pdf document on page one of this thread - am I right in thinking that the bloke has disconnected the hydraulic pipe from the slave cylinder rather than go through the hassle of removing all the paraphenalia from the top of the engine to remove the cylinder itself?

U cant remove the pipe without removing the other bits around it as its so far in behind everything. I tried to do that to make it easy but not a cat in hells chance. Turbo off, heat shield off and then remove the slave cylinder whole (I had intended just to undo the pipe but it was solid and I didnt want to risk having to make new clutch pipes!) is the easiest way.

Mitchella, I'm not saying it's easy but I changed the slave cylinder with the turbo in place, basically only removed the shiny heat sheids and supports. This was long ago before access to info from a great site like this and a mate had murder trying to remove an Esprit turbo which put me off removing it. Basically working blind with a lot of luck, scraped skin and bad back. Just removing the hdraulic inlet pipe would be a lot easier. My hands ain't fat but are not like a birds either.

That is very impressive indeed....I couldnt see or feel the joins in the slave cylinder with evrything in place...the other problem was that even with it out I still couldnt get the inlet pipe off...and I had a new slave cylinder last year!!!!!!!!!

More like dam stupid. Still regrowing skin after 9 years - won' be doing that again now I know turbo comes off OK. Or at least I assume it comes off ok as I don't remember seeing any posts about difficulties/sheared studs etc. Must be due another slave failure any day now.

Thanks for the advice. I'm currently working round the car, loosening off all of the bits that I will have to take off when I get round to doing the full job. Hope to get onto the top side of the engine next weekend so will assess how easy it is to get my turbo off. Handy to know that there is an alternative if the turbo is being a nightmare.

I too have scars on the scars on the back of my hands earned through working on minis and a R5GTT that had a few things in very nasty places - heatshield bolts were particularly nasty. Looking forward to opening a few old wounds over the coming months.

Driveshaft oil seals - a doddle for a man like you Pete who can get the whole engine and gearbox out.

They're not a particularly difficult job but look in the manual on how to do it and make sure to seal the rollpins in when you replace the actual oil seals.

They seal with a mastic like substance (CAF 4/60 THIXO), and if you don't apply it then they just leak again and you'll wonder why.

Well its finally back together and working!!! Have had a weeks delay due to work getting in the way of the more important things and a problem with the gear selector. Hers a word of warning for anyone intending to take the engine out....make sure the gear selector levers are well clear when you drop the drivetrain out! One of mine clearly wasnt and got bent......so then out had to come the seats centre console etc!!!! Not much fun. Thankfully the rod straightened out ok and even better than that I managed to shed another 5+ kgs of padding from under the centre console :D So there you go a ball acher from start to finish  Could do it in and out in 2 days easily now......and I would disconnect the gear selector at the gear stick end and push it forwards first too :D

Slipping clutch in 3rd upwards, really bad in 4th n 5th, I cant get to the slave cylinder as turbo is stuck on, SO change the cluth I am, at least if I change the clutch and examine the internals of the bell housing I'll know that it's not the clutch. I wIll also change the slave when I have it out.
I have disconnected just about everything this afternoon ready to drop it out tomorrow.
I'll be disconnecting the gear linkages at the stick end to move them forward and out of the way as peter suggests.
I can not get the turbo off. The RH top bolt, behind the inlet turbine is stuck on. So I plan to leave the slave on the box and disconnect the pipe union which is just-under/next-to the box, as per the pics from the 3rd post on this thread. No time for a big overhaul but i'm sure to fix/straighten/clean/upgrade a few bits n pieces while it is out for a week or so. Cluth fork is on order, fingers crossed there is one somewhere in the Renault network.

"luck"..... struggling on more like it !!!
A few teething problems at the moment, but no rush.
Afternoon tea now, with a mint choc chip corneto, wow she looks after me.
Current trying to detach the cabin heater hose. Hmmmmm, can only find 1 at the moment, may there are some clues in the parts manual?
