I don't see the point in putting coilovers on a road car :P Sorry Dave
Unless you're the sort of person that will set them up for all journeys .

M25 SETTING :D Tesco Setting   Speed bump .......Sunday twisty countryside ,ohh feck :!: Stuck behind Mr Tucker the silly old F###er overtaking setting ........................................

You will spend more time adjusting the buggers than driving the car

Peter ,do you change the settings or set and forget once it feels good :?:

Lee, I do fiddle with the set up now and again, but if its a dry event the set up I have at the minute is pretty much spot on......I tend to change tyre pressures more than the shock settings.
Its easy for the author of that article to talk about scales (and if youve got a single seater bathroom scales work nicely......thats how I used to set up my bike engined FF!!! :D ) but a decent set of automotive scales are the best part of £1000 and up!
Andy...never have you spoken truer words.....I would love to see just how badly some of the Saxos you see with 18" wheels and rock hard suspension actually drive!

Lee, that doesnt make sense. Whats the difference between a coil over kit and a normal adjustable damper kit, other than you can adjust the height to exactly where you want it, other than relying on the fixed height of the springs that you can do nothing about it?

You set them up to a good all round setting and leave them like that!

Only if your going to do a track day, or offroading may you change the settings/ride height..

It does make sense .You are never going to push a road car to the point where a finite adjustment on one quarter is going to make eff-all difference and who here would really know the why's and wherefores to make an adjustment ,I couldn't get the graphic equaliser set properly
You are kidding yourself if you think you're an ace suspension guru when all you can do is twist a big spanner and get all the heights the same .it's a tad more complicated than that .
Get a set of coilovers if you like ,but please don't try and tell me your suspension is any better set up than a set of adjustables with uprated springs or for that matter the std factory units

PS .I wouldn't advise offroading in a GTA .Grippppped :!:

Lee....youve missed the point, having the height adjustment is quite important, and you wont have it on the standard or stiffness adjustable only shocks. I have the rear of my car set slightly higher than the front to help keep the handling neutral, I also have the drivers side front corner a couple of mms higher than the passenger side to accomodate my great bulk getting in!!! Admittedly its not going to be worth loads of seconds on any given lap, but it is useful to have and lots of little things eventually add up to big things!! :D

I haven't missed the point ,you're not the average GTA driver. I said ,I don't see the point of it for normal road use .I defy most on here to know when the car is well set-up, fully balanced and ready to take on the best the land o-the-rising sun has to offer .
It's a dick-thing ,fully adjustable, coil over ,anodised ,fine pitch thread , asp ......................I haven't got a clue how to set it properly .

I dont profess to be an expert, but driving the car hard soon tells you wether youve got under or oversteer and having as much adjustment as can be had gives more possibilities to alter the handling of the car. If I jacked the front of my car up by several inches I'm sure it would understeer....opposite affect if I did the rear. I agree that if youre just going to drive your car about to the shops, work and on the odd drive at weekends then there is no real advantage of coilovers. I dont think Anyone would disagree with that.

P.S. youre sounding very angry tonight Lee!
