Back to the point I know what you're saying. What I wondered was more like taking the bonnet off and using it as a mould to create a newer lighter version. Full carbon-fibre would be cool and be ultra light weight but probably 300+ quid, if you had the liner made up in carbon too you'd save a lot of weight.

Wasn't there talk of a carbon fibre rear bumper at some point?

I already have a mould for a bonnet for an A610, its only slightly different for the GTA. I can get CF or Carbon Kevlar mixes done, as well as normal glass fibre.

Need to shift some extra weight from the rear to balance it up though..

I thought it was vented, which is why some cabins have a whiff of fuel in then.... a vented tank, under the bonnet, where the blower is constantly flowing air into the cabin. Hardly surprising that there is a whiff of fuel?

The cap looks vented as it appears to have 2 small holes....hence why the (unusually picky!) scrutineer pulled me up on it. That led to me having to demonstrate to him that there were no vents in the cap!

That boot liner weighs a good chunk from my memory of lifting one out.

You could either re-mould that in CF (would look very nice with the weave)or get a big drill / small circle cutter and totally perforate it, like a Tetleys tea bag. Then get some spray glue and just cover it in a few ounces of fabric.

It'd look totally standard (in fact probably better than Renault plastic) and be a whole lot lighter.
I'm just here for the gasoline.

My boot liner went a long time ago, as did the partition bit...to make way for a strut brace.

Ah forgot about your strut brace.

I thought from the way you described your regs that the liner would have to stay so as to keep the standard road car appearance. Then again with your door cards gone I should've guessed.

Have you still got the sun visors?

I had it made by a local engineering company....I made up some templates, they did the cutting, then I fitted and welded it all together. I will be getting a rear one done at some point, although thats going to be a welded permanently in place item.

Darren, the regs state I must retain all INTERIOR trim.....under the bonnet isnt the interior......Its whats called stretching the regs as far as you can without breaking them 8)
Still got the sunvisors....they come in useful now and again...if they weighed more than a kilo each they'd be history however!! :D

Peter clearly reads the regs in a different language to that they were written in :)

The cap looks vented as it appears to have 2 small holes

There are two types. The large flat cap for the early cars and the the smaller ridged type with the Alpine logo for the later cars.
