Aerial Atom

My mate has bought an Atom (he owns a GTA but rarely uses it) and I had a go in it last week...........oh my god :shock: :shock: :shock:
I've been in fast cars before but nothing has come remotely close to this.
I believe the standard Atom (if there is such an animal) has a Honda Type R engine bolted to the back (220 BHP) however my mate's has same engine only supercharged and remapped which equates to roughly 310BHP.
Bearing in mind this thing weighs less than half a ton (457Kgs) hence has around 600BHP per ton it is amazingly quick. :D
0 - 60 in bigger all :shock:
0 - 100 - 0 in bigger all plus a little bit more. :shock: :shock:

The Radical will always win if its a similar spec. car due to aerodynamics, weight distribution and cetre of gravity. The SR8 Radical is faster than an F3 car.....all for less than £50k

I cant really comment but all I would say is that the Atom has a very low CofG and is basically just a frame with two plastic seats, there is no doors, body work panels, windscreen or any refinements. It does have a big wing at the front and one at the rear.
Its reputed that 0 -60 in standard Atom is around 2.9 secs, for the supercharged version I guess around 2.5secs.

But neither the Atom or Rad are that everyday user-friendly I suspect .

The Atom is an awesome piece of kit and almost affordable....but its not the precision tool that the Radical is -

On the other hand the Atom is usable on the road where as you would have to be certifiable to use the Radical on the road due to its height and lack of ground clearance!

Love the Ultima...esp the bit in the ad where they are at the drive through!!! Can you imagine that!! :lol:

Westfield?

Westfield have a Radical type kit that looks pretty good - with the VW 1.8 turbo lump as preferred choice (very tuneable.) Not as quick as the Radical or supercharged Atom but massively cheaper .
Alpines - GTA 3.0 Turbo, GTA 3.0 Inj (Project DD), GTA 6.2 V8 (500 bhp) , R32 Skyline GTR, BMW Alpina B10 635 Highline, Alpina B10 E39 5 Series, Jaguar 4.2 XKR, Laguna 205GT, BMW 120d.
