Elvington on Saturday....big class of BARC type cars so I suspect a win is out of the question. Evo, Scooby, Noble, M3 as well as the usual Wigton mob to beat, and it aint going to happen!!! My clutch is ailing rather badly and 1st and reverse are near impossible....once on the move its not too bad. If I can come out of it with a Wigton championship class win then I'll be happy :D

And for those in the sunny south, yes sun all day Saturday, I'll be sprinting around the Dalston Barracks on the Abingdon Airfield. Pete Ellens will be there too is his A110.

I wish I had a charge cooler fitted, might be rather usefull if it is a hot day. Oh well, I guess the brakes will over heat quicker too. All part of the challenge.

If you do go, is there any way you can get some footage?

Nightmare day!!! Clutch caused my worst result for ages (in the Wigton championship anyway....got beaten by the supercharged Elise and my old Rover). The damn thing caused me to creep on the start line meaning I either started the timing early (1st run) or had to have my foot on the brake, then plant the accelerator and wait for the turbo to work. Not good......hanbrake coped at low revs but as soon as I revved it the creep started!
Still managed 2nd in my own class on the day....mostly down to other people having problems, the Noble and Evo no showing, or they drove as though on a Sunday outing (Porsche 911 Carrera).
Clutch will be sorted for Barbon next weekend if it kills me!!

Not so good for me either.
The Abingdon sprint is 2 sprint courses, thats a convoy, 2 practice and 2 timed on each course. The results are your best time from each course added together. On both courses I was rushing 1st to 2nd and missed it, then the gear will not engage at all, so after a couple of tries I had to select 3rd to try and pick up speed.
Waiting for the official results to come through as all sorts of timing problems ensued on the day, mostly during practice, but some drivers were complaining about the timed runs as they had on board timers too.
I'm guessing I was about 2 thirds of the way down my class, of 20.

Pete's problem is hydraulic/fork related.

The only uprated clutches available are just a different friction material, which is only slightly better, but just decreases the half life of the clutch..

Even the 610 clutch is just a standard GTA plate with a stiffer cover..

Proper route is a custom clutch but will require flywheel mods.

Non slippage pas..

That'd be right
Not enough of them about and decreasing all the time
Got to be worth looking into a custom though, most of the cost is in the fitting and if diy its your own time .If I ever need to do it I would go that route .

Unfortunately I dont think anyone will be able to rustle up a new custom clutch by Tuesday afternoon!!! :D Thats when it will be going back in.
I'm not 100% what the clutch problem is, but it wont be wear as its virtually new and doesnt slip....it just wont engage properly. I have had lots of suggestions - oil on the clutch, warping of the clutch, weak fork and dodgy master cylinder! All will be revealed before my next meeting at Barbon next weekend!

more power and tork....... race it all the time..........with a standard clutch..... Recipe for boxa neutrals me thinks.......

what you needs is a nice racing paddle clutch......with 2 sttings ..... cluch on clutch off :!:  hard to engage but a bit harder to break than the one you've already got installed.
