I have electronic boost control already....what it needs is more igniton mapping first...then more boost!

Absolutely..... but a bit of overboost never hurt anyone... :D

I fully intend on setting the rev limit a bit higher on the twin turbo. It just wants to keep pulling so well it'd be a shame not to let it. Plus All the bonkers NA engines are allowed to rev over 7000.

pah, you don't want overboost, you want that level of boost all the time! :twisted: :lol:

Id expect about 6,5k to be the limit on the turbo setup, not mechanically, just efficiently, just because of the pumping losses involved at higher rpm with the standard turbo manifolds..

thats how mine felt after the dastec also felt as if it picked up sharper on gearchanges just need to get it sorted again now coz its boosting 20psi+ :shock: :twisted:

Mine will be intentionally boosting to 20PSI next week hopefully....the ignition just needs sorting.....if the bloody weahter will cool down!!!!!

It goes back in tomorrow morning. Normal Cumbrian weather is back.....although its still pleasantly warm, its raining on and off...tomorrow its due to get heavier. Ideal!!! Never thought I'd be here and wishing the hot weather away :lol:
Apparently the ignition map is way out (according to DG who has studied it), so big gains are in order.....fingers crossed!

Thanks to Dave and Peter, I have been able to apply this map to Tony's 3 litre (which is now running after some serious head-banging, and hair-tearing!) and have to say that this map, although probably very good on the GTA, is less useful than the twin turbo one I did on the DeLorean. The trigger off the stock flywheel worked poorly compared to the alternative 36/1 on Tony''s, done by Dave's mate, (the twin turbo has a modified 66/3 GTA flywheel). The idlespeed setup appears to be open loop, and all goes to cockerel when working with a 3 bar MAP sensor!

Lesson 1) (as learnt by yours truly) EVERY car is different!

I might have made a mistake here - have some of these posts been actually made by sober people? can this really be true? I always assumed forums were for people who were webbing under the influence! its certainly my excuse!

I assume the TT engine was running the same injectors as Tony's and its nearly the same capacity, so probably more likely to be closer than Pete's 2.5 214cc injector map..

Petes car works fine on the original trigger and idles correctly also using a 3 bar map sensor, so it must just be different cars.. :? :)

How can the trigger work poorly off the original flywheel?? Surely it either works or doesnt work? :?
My idle increases when the car gets warm, but I believe thats a setting on the ECU that hasnt been sorted yet.....other than that its fine with the 3 bar map sensor.

I love cold weather!! 8) Its now got 209bhp @ wheels and 360 lb ft of torque!!!! Thats at around 1 bar too :shock: He says there is still a problem with the chargecooler not working as well as it could so is going to have a fiddle with the set up......hopefully he can run some more boost on it and get even better figures :D
