Hi does any one know the BHP/TONNE ratio is 4 my atmo GTA ( no air con ), im guessing around 135bhp/tonne ?. Also what it is 4 the turbo GTA and the A610.

Thanks John.

GTA turbo allegedly weighs in at 1185kgs and has 200bhp, however I think the 1185kgs is dry weight as I stripped out at least 150kgs (inc spare wheel, engine cover, seat metal, soundproofing, turbo shields, fans etc) and with almost no petrol in it or washer water mine still weighed 1050kgs. I believe the atmo is slightly lighter than the turbo.

Yea i figured that the atmo would be lighter, but then the turbo is more powerfull. Its just that some guy in a Ford fiasta st which has 148bhp hung onto my bumper right up to the ton, i never red lined the GTA but took it to around 5 grand through the gears but there he was . These powerful hatch backs are a right pain. When our cars were new they only had to deal with 96bhp XR2"s so no problem. ive dicided to let them do what ever they like while i go about driving normal ( as in normal fast, not bonkers fast ) ---keep them guessing. because i know that in the back of their minds they wish that they were driving a GTA. :P

Get your car checked out on a RR to see if its doing as it should. Just for reference, a standard GTA atmo I have at the moment, can keep with a friends Nissan 200sx Turbo which is dynod at 248bhp/213lb/ft. We have done hard runs in all gears, all speeds and neither car can gain or pull on each other.

They're a really funny thing, HP figures :-) And remember the PRV is all about torque (all torque - hah)

Alpine Rob took me out in his Atmo (triple webers and free-flow) the other day and I was thoroughly impressed and don't mind admitting that it'd probably blow away our cam'd DeLoreans. BUT I bet on the road it'd be tough to see a difference. One of our cam'd K-Jet DeLoreans cheerfully kept up with a BMW 330 who was obviously trying to get away (hung onto his bumper till 110 on a B road!) but I bet that shows a lot more on the dyno.

not sure what point I'm trying to make here..... :-D Except I bet that fiesta was having the tits revved off it, where you were just planting it at low revs. He was trying. And as you say, he kept up up to a ton. I bet he was in 5th by then. You were barely out of 3rd if you were trying hard.

Yea your both right , it was only a small stretch of road and i did back of fairly quick as we were entering a town centre and i had my son in the car with me so i was"nt being too silly, and i did wounder if he was revving the tits of off his tonka toy. Earlier today i took a friend out in the atmo and booted it in 3rd coming of a rounabout and up to the ton then backed off a bit and he said that it was easily faster then the 2.8i capri he owned 10 yrs ago. :D

I am going to get it R&R , am advised to go to track"n"road in Rainham. Will book it in when the weather gets cooler.

To some extent it's the law of diminishing returns though isn't it?

Take the new Porsche Carrera GT - 600bhp, £320K+, 20 yrs of development over the GTA and it does 0-60 in 3.8sec. Exactly two secs quicker than the GTA turbo.

Yes I'm sure on the right road a GTA wouldn't have a chance in hell, but down a typical A or B road with all the usual blind corners and wot-not the extra £320K that Porsche man had paid wouldn't actually buy him a great deal more............. except maybe a working speedo
I'm just here for the gasoline.

Exactly, when i watched 5th gear the other night and tiff went out in some lucky buggers Enzo and then the Mclaren, i thought lucky git and of course i would love to have a go but then i got to woundering and realized that the Mclaren is a £1000,000 car, is it really worth £998,000 more then i paid 4 my GTA . Tiff said that a major service would set you back £30,000 !!, anouth to buy 4 immaculate GTA"s :!: .

I missed 5th Gear on Monday, and to be fair its normally crap and a bit of an embarassing Top Gear clone without the personalities....but Enzo vs McLaren sounds good! Which won?

Well Tiff went out in the Enzo 1st and was surprised how easy it was to drive, discribing it as a " pussycat " but could"nt get anouth of the noise!.
Then he went out in a stripped out racing Mclaren F1 and to be honest it looked amazing but how difficult is it to get into that middle seat! looked like a right pain, the car was so noisy that Tiff had to wear headphones or go deaf. Once underway he said that it was like being inside a video game and it went so hard, it had 700bhp and was a licence killer.
In the end you could see that the F1 Mecca had the vote but as the programe finished im sure that i saw Tiff turn to the camera man and mouth " load of bullocks really he should have saved his money and bought an Alpine ".
