Yes, but I didn't wont to remove the oil cooler pipes. After all the overheating and coolant leaking woes I've had in the past (inlcuding renewing these hoses) I didn't want to disturb any coolant hoses and be bothered with the hassle of topping up and bleeding etc! :(

BTW - tip I've learnt for everyone... Check your earths! :lol:

This should be the No.1 tip in the new members "Welcome post".

For existing members, I think we should have some posting etiquette. Don't post a problem till you have checked your earths (or had too much to drink for the non-polyester non-rusting car owners)

One thing I did on my red GTA Turbo was run a new earth cable from the battery terminal to the front suspension turret, and ran a new, 4 gauge audio quality earth cable direct from the battery, through the car and connected it to the left rear turret.

Only way I was ever going to be sure... 8)

I ran a new earth strap from the righthand rocker cover to the rear righthand suspension turret a couple of years ago (as per Renault Alpine technical note 1448!) but never did get round to putting on a new earth braiding I bought for the battery terminal to the front suspension turret! Doing just this is what turned out to fix my problems! :roll: :oops:

lol, im psychic, just a couple of days too late though.... :lol:

If you think about it, there is only one earth point, the one below the battery, and this often corroded either through batteries leaking or water in the scuttle panel. The rear of the car is only earthed from the front chassis via the two internal steel sills and the centre tunnel, and we know full well there is various corrosion issues there, so directly earthing both ends of the car is such a benefit.
