T2 BHP

Postby gt5 » Mon Aug 14, 2006 9:39 pm

Will a Turbo 2 have the same sort of transmission loss as the GTA?on the rollers today and managed a poor 140 rwhp at 0.9 bar :?:

They only come with 165 as standard...the normal upgrade is the 210 and apparently they never actually saw 210...more like 200. The T2 will suffer on the rollers because of its layout the same as the GTA turbo, so 140 doesnt sound too far wrong....assuming its the 210 upgrade engine. 45-50 transmission loss....190ish....200 on the road.

About 45bhp losses on a T2. Higher ratio diff than on the GTA, and your running lighter smaller wheels, etc...

The guys who run the T2 in my speed championship say theres doesnt have the power its supposed to either. Theyve just had an engine re-build and its supposed to have over 200bhp but they dont think it has. I guess its a bit like te claim that a chipped GTA has 230-240bhp.....we all know it wont make that on the rollers....or ever in fact!

The t2 intercooler location is useless and especially on a rolling road session where the intake charge temp will go sky high . Fit water injection for a power hike and better reliablity . My gordini easy makes 200 bhp on only 15 p.s.i. of boost

It sounds like the T2 is in need of chargecooling .

Water injection is on the cards, just trying to sort out a good system, it will have to be direct port style system? meaning four tiny injectors with a controller? The Aquamist 2S system looks good but at a price :(

your T2 is making very good power for a standard car on low boost . Fit the cheap erl aquamist kit that works from a boost pressure switch and inject the water into the top of the intercooler . You only need the one spray nozzle as you get a big mist of water vapour which will quench the whole intercooler area nicely .

Surly it would be better to have the four injectors (direct port) rarther then just the one in the intercooler :?: a more expensive set-up i know :( but i was thinking a much safer set-up knowing all four inlets are getting cooled evenly? right or wrong :?: :) open to any advice whats best :)

They do make good power

Postby Tony Smith » Sat Aug 26, 2006 2:53 pm

They are awesome with the right mods - my Gordini turbo made 189 bhp at 16psi boost. Completely standard engine but intercooled. T2 internals stronger and lower comp so with bigger turbo and plenty of boost make 250bhp easy if you get the charge temp down. Laggy as anything though.

Still a bit lost with the water injection though :( getting different ideas from different manufacturers :?
one is http://www.turbobits.co.uk/acatalog/erl ... ystem.html system 2S using the direct port method, four injectors and expensive :(
the other is good old ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Coolingmist-Vari- ... dZViewItem

They seem to be all over the place re; jet sizes for using four injectors. Four 0.3 jets have been mentioned.

Does anyone on here have any ideas re; the best water injection method? taking into account the set-up intercooler ect (as pic)
