well if thats the case i will probably get one actually i have always thought that the turbo is on the small sideeven though its a stage 2 i will get the manifolds done then take it from there

No, its not on the small side. :lol: ,your compressor wheel is capable upto 400bhp, your turbine housing size is selected according to usuable boost response, lag, and will max out around 320bhp

If you want to make the best of new manifold etc, you need at least a 0.63 or 0.82, but there is not going to be any surge of boost as you have currently, and you will expect full boost around 4k.

You can fit a 0.63 housing straight to your turbo as it is to make it into T3/T4, T38 spec, and have a turbo fully capable of nearly 400bhp.

can you get me a 0.63 exhaust houseing im in desparate need of finishing my 3" down pipe off while its at zorstec well im presumeing this can take a 3"turbo down pipe fullboost at 4k sounds interesting i need the same kick my old gtt used to give :D :) :twisted: :lol:

Nope, the .63 housing still has the same 5 bolt outlet as the .48, and won't allow you to hook a 3" downpipe straight up to it. The only .63 that does this is the Escort Cosworth housing but these regularly go second hand for about £250 (just for the housing!)

You can buy an adaptor for £150 which converts the 5 bolt outlet to a Cosworth 3" 3 bolt outlet. Expensive, but the only option..

Is there any advantage to the 3" outlet??? The outlet from the turbo housing isnt as big as 3" is it?

Yes, anything over 300bhp needs 2.75-3" max really. Problem is that will be very loud on a GTA.

The standard wastegate housing is only a 2" outlet. The turbine wheel on its own is over 2" diameter, and then youve got the output of the wastegate port when thats fully open - so the outlet is smaller than both combined just under normal driving. But then you add boost pressure and your exhaust turbine pressure is increased exponentially, so its fighting even harder to get out.

On a Sierra Cosworth, changing from the standard system to the 3" turbo back system gains around 30bhp on a stage 2 engine upgrade.

my bro fitted a 3"turbo down pipe to his gtt and that felt as if it revved harder at the top end im hoping with that and the manifolds i should see a decent gain my goal is still to get over 300bhp it might take time but i will get there one day :roll: even if it means running 3bar :twisted: :lol: :lol: :shock:

dave can you do a better price on that?how quick can you get them?

Its all in the aim of reducing turbine inlet pressure, the main reason why our torque curves drop off so steeply. :)
