leaky rim

Sorry for another wheel question...but,

Can anyone offer some advice :?:

Our other car's (MGF) front right keeps going flat every few months! We did the old fairy liquid test and there is no puncture, the air seems to be leaking around the rim....has anyone gone down the road of having their alloy's sorted for this or is the best bet to f&%* it and go by some new ones and get the tyre refitted???

Theres a wheel refurb co. down the road but i'm scared of them eating into me alpine funds for no real gain :?

Any advice would be much appriciated (and worth an evenings beer & wine next time we meet up) :lol:

just pump the tyre up every couple of weeks, that should serve your GTA fund rather well.
or perhaps just get the tyre refitted, don't they use a silicon brush on sealer, perhaps it was poorly fitted originally.

ok, i am good for advice! :)

step 1. take the wheel off the MGF

step 2. throw the MGF away

step 3. mount the wheel on the garage wall as a reminder of how silly you once were! :wink:

as far as your leaky rim is concerned.... slightly buckled could be the problem new rim mate..... it only takes on tap of a nasty pothole at speed to buckle the wheel or a nice bit of kerbing to cause a problem also :shock: ther is one way round it.....

get a can of emergency tyre weld...... you know the stuf that will blow up a punctured tyre on the side of the road...... do the business with that.... and it should cure the problem temporarily ...... for how long..... it could last months.... you never know.

Rim leaking

Take it down Kwik fit, or equivalent.
See if they can reseal it.
Might need a new tyre or B just get a tube fitted.
You are not the only one who has experienced this problem. This is a common problem with old steel wheels, which corrode too.

A customer of mine has a MGF ,reckons its the best ever :lol: :lol:
He's after a change though ,got about £15k to spend ,wants a roadster ,yellow ,looking at Boxsters :roll: :roll:
I've told him ,but he's a bit of a hairdresser :lol: :lol:

boxters are ok......only if you buy the S :lol:

or

he could buy a GTA stick some porker wheels on it and use the rest of the budget to fix it up :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

have i got to defend meself again? they wuz cheap innit and so i could stick 9" rimz on the rear to be a bit different than havin OZ rims like all other spider owners as i've got plenty lying around..... and original Alpine rimz at that innit......can't beleiv u iz slaggin and you was part of the bling installation project MR Spacaman :mrgreen:

if some 610 man wants to buy em though..... i could be pursuaded ..... fully refurbed .... powder coated.... and that included the centre caps.....
