Tesco 99 Octane Super Unleaded

Postby simontaylor » Mon Oct 24, 2005 12:58 pm

I thought Shell Optimax was 98 RON, ( I now understand it to be "98 minimum"), so what is this juice from Tescos? Any one know if it is any good.

Optimax is 98 octane...the Tescos petrol is their own brand....99 octane. I thought it was fairly straight forward!

I beleive Optimax has been souped up to 99 RON and has been rebranded as V-Power.

I've heard that optimax actually leaves the refinery at well over 100 ron and actually degrades over time - so the best place to buy it is near the refinery, and use it up quick! Could be complete bolx but it's a good story :-)

Sounds like a marketing scam to make people go and rush to buy Optimax, and use it up as quick as possible...

(having just read to the bottom)

And it looks like anyne who's bought Optimax in the past two months has actually been buying V-Power anyway. Interesting blind test. Anyone notice the difference? :-P

V power was launched in Germany 3 years ago..... the obvious place i would of thought..... i've been buying it that long....

its only a name also......

V power in Holland ...... 98 Ron......

v power in Germany and switzerlans 100 Ron

not available at all in France...... only optimax.... 98 Ron.....same as the uk but they have now decided to bring it to the UK finally and how much do they charge for it...... in the UK? go on surprise me

I use it all the time in my spiders road and race...... the funny thing is I now buy it in Switzerland and it's mile cheaper there than 98 ron is here in france..... I paid chf equivalent of 85p a litre for it today whilst passing through Geneva can't beat it Rocket fuel for pisswater prices 8)
