Standard?

I should hope not ................

Defiantly not standard, but the only excuse I've got is lack of front-end grip so it may be slicks and limited slip for next year??

Or a GTA!!!!!! :D

Simon.....now I'm in the know, an A310 would be the best option..V6 power, smaller and lighter than a GTA....would have done it myself if I knew then what I know now!

Is it still 'essex' powered or has he fitted a scorpio V6 or a small block V8(as seems to be the thing with them now) ?

As far as I'm aware there aren't any in recent times. Richard Thomlinson used his 310 v6 for a few seasons of sprints and a few hillclimbs until he found the chassis was so rusty he had to scrap it.
I hear the GTO racing guy has a competition car, but I don't know if he uses it.
I think it would be OK with a GTA atmo engine but the standard 2.7 really doesn't rev enough in standard form.

What do you think Mr Smith?
Mr Shadmonk?

An "Essex" it is, but with the right bits added on plus the advantage of a LSD & RWD.
It's the first time he has beaten me in a square on fight and has been knocking on the door for a class win for some time now.

Rich, have you good room for a bigger intercooler on your car, it may be the way to go , as well as an LSD.

Simon,
There is some room for a larger intercooler but I do have other plans/ideas which may happen between now and next year which may make me sail past the competition????

Well guys I Hope you all had a good time at Donnington over the weekend (I must go next year??) as for my weekend It was the last round of the Gurston championship on Sunday and with only 0.04 points between myself and the class lead it was going to be a hard battle for the 2006 Class title.
Over the morning's practice and first timed runs we were trading times so it came down to the last timed run to decide the 2006 class win.
With 0.04 points difference and drop scores to take in account I had to go about 0.6 seconds faster than the RS 500 to take the class for a third time.
My last run time was a 38.35s, which was very pleasing for a new PB a whooping 0.31s faster than what I set in June, and then the RS 500 did a 37.64s and by going that bit faster he took the class title for 2006.
It looks like I will be about 1.1points behind him in the class standings but we’ll have wait until the official points tally is issued during the week ahead.
I’ve only got one more weekend to go, and that’s at Longleat Park on the 23rd & 24th September amongst a load of Porsches, which not fair on them really!

Well done Rich.

Pete Ellens is at Longleat on the Sunday, I may come down to watch too. I am no 36 on the waiting list, entries filled up within 3 days.

Pete Ellens (A110) and I are at Loton on Saturday September 30th, just a few miles west of Shrewsbury. http://www.hdlcc.com/loton.htm for maps and more details and a gallary. I have an 8 litre Dodge Viper in my class, I think I have seen him at Gurston, literally light up the rear tyres in a spectacular fashion.

I currently have 2 spare "Competitor event pass", which any one intersted may have, might save you a few quid on the gate, you might just have to claim to be the mechanics of car 26. PM your address to me.
