3 or 4 years back a magazine wanted an 18 turbo for a comparison story.
The clubs couldn't find a roadworthy one anywhere. Now there are 5 or 6 of them which are tidy and a few more layed-up. 18s do come up on ebay like this one (not a turbo): http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RENAULT-18-GTS-RE ... 0024028640

I'm sure that someone told me that the Austin Maxi was so poorly designed that it had a better drag co-efficient in reverse than it did going forward.

You'd have thought the classic Allegro would have been there as well - no one would want to be seen dead in one. Well - apart from the bloke up the road who has a Vanden Plas example with real wood on the dashboard no doubt. Jeez what a horrific line up old British Leyland had - the Princess, Maxi, Allegro and the only half decent one - the mini. No wonder they went to the dogs

They broke down so early in their life that many owners with space rolled them into the back of their garages and left them. So now there are quite a few low milage/comparitively less rusty examples poping up on ebay etc.

An 18 turbo a couple of years back in Clapham I wanted to stop, but i was already late going to a Job, so I passed back the next day, and every day for the next 6 months never to be seen again :(
