It must affect the running all through the revs. Can't just decide not to bother when the revs rise :?

You can't, its either my unit or an XR25.

The pot is very sensitive, just a fraction of the turn from lean to rich, and as Pete said, it only controls idle mixture and part throttle..

.....at least he didn't fit plugs bought from Halfords :roll: I was fortunate that they were the right length - a few mills longer and I would have had serious problems!! (According to Renault Manchester)

Consequently Halfords removed the GTA from it's model list - I wonder why!! :shock:

:oops: , oh well....(unless they're the wrong code)

Problem could be elsewhere then. Do you know what boost you are running?

It really needs setting up with a CO meter or Wideband lambda to get the correct value. The get you home mode only comes into effect if the sensor is broken (sensed out of range) or disconnected. Then it will just run rich so the car will start in all conditions, but be very rich...

Car's with Lamda sensors use this same type of system, instead of there being a set pot, the lambda sensor is always monitoring and in theory 'constantly adjusts the CO pot' to give the perfect mixture. The ecu then ignores this signal when the throttle goes over 80% open and relies on the map.

I've got a lamba to go in ,not wideband though , just a 4 wire job to monitor
the fueling with the increased boost .How accurate would this be wired into a good quality numbered afr gauge :?: I cant be doing with the LED ones :P


:idea: What we need David is an Alpine RR Tuning day .
I know there's little to adjust ,but would be good for comparing notes .

The gauge is irrelevant, most 'display' between 10:1 to 17:1 for instance, but you sensor will only read a narrow band of say 12:1 to 15:1, so you may find it just reads fully rich all the time when on boost, even though its not rich enough for best performance, but still outside the range of the sensor.

My WB reads from 8:1 to 20:1, so covers the whole scale.

Treated mine to some 4 Star for the first time today. Anyone see a difference using it? What difference do you see?

The local garage charges £1.39 a litre which is expensive, a guy comes all the way from the Isle of Man though to buy it :shock:

In Australia leaded and lead replacement petrol has been discontinued. I use 96 RON unleaded. Have used 98 for some months, but there does not seem to be any advantage for the extra 9 cents a litre.
I have been using a 96 RON 10% ethanol blend for the last month and am convinced the performance has improved.

Maybe this is caused by the additional evaporative effect of the ethanol cooling the intake charge. I have no dyno proof of extra performance, just seat of the pants. The good part is the ethanol blend is 2 cents a litre cheaper than ordinary 91 RON unleaded, because there is no tax on the ethanol content of the fuel.

Just stick with super unleaded.

97-99 RON depending on place of purchase and only 88.9 litre!

Not seen any real difference in the 4* apart from my wallet being relieved of more cash....

Sticking with the super unleaded.
