Bad luck mate.

You should do the honest thing, just claim for the actual damage sustained. After all it is all the fraudulent claims which make the premiums go up for the rest of us.

Oh yes, life is not fair.

Be very careful with any idea about not reporting it.

There have been a number of cases where insurance companies refused to pay after people had their cars broken into and thought 'nah I'll just pay for the damage myself so as to not effect the no-claims'.... and not bothered to tell the insurance man.

The insurance companies found out that the car had been broken into before and therefore argued that the claim was invalid - the logic being that if they'd known about the previous damage then they'd have been able to decline the insurance or raise the premiums to compensate.

Not fair as Mr Taylor said.

It is probably a condition of the policy that "all accidents, however small and breakins, however minimal or enev attempted" MUST be reported even if a claim is not made.

It is like insurace companies and the tax man are "uncles". They allways get the better of you.

How are the insurance company going to find out if you don't tell them :?

I thought you would be doing the insurance company a favour if you don't claim on the insurance? Tell the police be all means for peace of mind etc and to become a "statistic" - you never know though they may even catch the thieving gits

I have a pair of door cards, you can have them if you want?

Firstly they can check with the police and see if it's been reported but secondly, in the cases I heard about, it was entirely innocent. People were asked had there been any other issues in the past and, not knowing it was a loaded question, replied 'oh a forced lock' or 'just a stolen stereo'.

In these cases the people chose not to claim as it wasn't worth it due to excess etc but then the point of the question was just a ploy by the companies to invalidate the insurance and not have to pay.

Makes you wonder who the criminals are?
