Apexi RSM, Would it work on a GTA?

Postby gt5 » Wed Oct 25, 2006 1:56 pm

Just out of interest would a Apexi RSM work on a GTA? Just a bit :? with the paragraph on the discription below . http://www.g-motorsports.com/rsm.htm

"The RSM can be fitted to any car with a electronic speed input wire running to the ECU, rather than the mechanical speedometer cable. There are 4 wires which require connecting to operate the RSM, the Power, Ground, RPM and Speed wires. RSM's have been fitted easily by customers themselves on Vauxhalls, Fords and other Euro cars"

Just thinking that it would match up with the Apexi boost controller i have

Yes, but this may sound a bit thick, but what does it actually do? I can't see the point in it....

Get a G-tech from E-bay for £40 and save £120....the only thing of any interest that it seems to do is measure acceleration. I suspect its aimed at people who go 'cruising' to look pretty next to their sat. nav. ,DVD player and neon lights

Are you sure its a yes Dave? Just worried with the; "The RSM can be fitted to any car with a electronic speed input wire running to the ECU" :?

Re; the proper data loggers Andy, i agree much!!better then the RSM but all ime wanting is one of the apexi units to match up with the Apexi boost controller already fitted, suppose the ability to measure accelaration will be good  and g force

Maybe a stack dash would be nice in the future, but will need to rob some banks 1st, nearly ready for Noble, the water inj is just about fitted, i just need some time off work to get it down there  and hope things with GTA's dont happen in 3's meaning Peter, Lee, and Steve gt5:shock:

Ignore the bit where it says ecu, it means is the speedo drive electronic or mechanical. The RSM just wants a speed input which is fine on the GTA.

As for digi dashes, if you went for an Adaptronic, it has a add on box available which can connect to any RGB input on any LCD monitor, giving live readings of all sensors, speed, revs, data logging, and all user selectable....

but does the adaptronic interface with multiple ecu types.........

is it used in racing? as the AIM stuff is and they are installed in FR 2000 at the mo

I thought you couldn't get the adaptronic to work Dave?.......

Worked on mine. The idle was a bit up and down when the engine got hot, but that was because one of the settings wasnt switched on....or was it off??? Either way, it was nothing to worry about.

GT5....exaclty what do you want the Apexi RSM to do? Other than looking glitzy it appears to do nothing that you are ever likely to need. Its a toy!

well apart from being a toy it would fill up a space above my stereo i already have a afr/egt gauge there and another hole next to it ready for another gauge and if i fill the rest of the space with spa gauges it will cost me fortune but yeah your probably right its pointless i will find something else that usefull

Why would it interface with other ecus, it is an ecu.... :?:

The AIM stuff is just a fixed display with sensor inputs. The system on the Adaptronic is fully custom, so you could switch from live readings, to full ignition and fuel map displays. Its far more comprehensive...

Where have you been, both Peter and Tony are running the units...
