Duratec V6 in an Esprit

Postby darrenbiggs » Mon Dec 11, 2006 7:59 pm

Just thought this might be of interest.

http://www.lotusespritworld.com/EOthers ... ritV6.html

A Duratec V6 in an Esprit - interesting size wise and WRT the UN1. It doesn't explain though about the bellhousing and mating to the gearbox.

Not that anyone round here would ever think of something as blasphemous as ditching the ol' PRV.

Bellhousings are available for the Duratec to UN1 from Brooke Cars but like you say, why bother?

A few years back there was an Esprit with a GTA Turbo engine that was for sale for a while. IIRC It wasn't much money and I was tempted. Althought I think it was white with the 'colour coded' look which lost it big point in my book!

I'm working with Alex Canini to built a naturally asp triple weber 2.8 for his S2 esprit. He's only ever worked with engines that fall apart when you push them hard. I think he'll be very surprised with a 2.8 odd-fire.....

That's the silver one, although he's recently acquired an S3 Atmo that needed a bit of engine TLC and a re-lacquer and polish. Very nice and very, VERY 80's! This joins his other Esprit, Ferrari 308, Lotus Elise, two vintage things, and his race-prepped Hillman Imp. Not bad for 19 years old.

Audi lump

Postby Tony Smith » Tue Dec 12, 2006 11:06 am

These cost a fortune to tweak to good power though, up to 400 bhp I reckon a twin turbo 3 litre prv is a better bet. The kit to bring it up to RS4 (375 bhp) spec is £9000 from ABT!!
