....and wheres those handbrake cables?. We all know thats a 2 week job just to release just one from an old caliper... :lol:

This is a funny thread :) Speshly as have just mated an atmo subframe back up. It's great how they thought to provide a remote clutch bleed point on the turbos (which is a sod to do on the DeLorean) but didn't provide a hard line that runs along the top of the gearbox onto which you hook the flexible clutch line - which is easy to unhook on the D!

A decent larger-variety jack will get the car high enough with a bit of 2x4 on the saddle. I don't have one of those funky forklift jobbies (used to engines that come out upwards :) ) so a crane and a jack sufficed. Wheeling the whole thing out afterwards proved probably the trickest manoever!

Dave, you're making it up about those handbrake cables - the biggest sod was undoing the flexi-hoses from the hard lines!

(and I really LOVE it when people on the DeLorean forum offer an opinion base don a single car too Image )

that is the joy of a dry unpainted concrete floor :wink:

handbrake cables tucked up into the strut turrets so the did not get tangled up when dropping the whole lot down.

clutch master cylinder was removed from the gearbox with feed pipe still connected.

anything else you want cleared up :lol:

Easy ish yes, only problem is that you practically have to remove the engine to do anything to it!!

really.....?....... not so as we have experienced...... unless you want to change the rad :D

have been able to do most jobs with the lump in it even gearbox and clutch changes etc

Oh, I see, you remove the calipers and leave them dangling, yes ? Yes, that is probably a better way of doing it. Rob wanted to change out his calipers anyway. The cables I just unhooked BX styleeee (had 3)

Yep, remove the caliper, undo the top bolt on the hubcarrier and pull it forward so the handbrake cable can come out from underneath the upper arm, and then hang the caliper onto the bottom of the rear shock eyelet so its out of the way (I leave the rear shocks in situ), otherwise you'll stretch/kink the brake lines if you leave them dangling...

yeah, left shocks dangling and took out upper hub carrier bolt in order to pull the driveshafts from the gearbox - but only did that after pulling the whole thing out.
