Alan - where abouts are you in Edinburgh? I can probably provide some support/help/tools if you need. As you have already seen, we are a friendly bunch on here and most people seem to maintain their cars themselves so you'll pretty much always be able to find someone who has experienced the same probs (and hopefully fixed them). The manuals are available on the site for download and I have a paper copy if you want to borrow it and make a copy.

I've also got a spare trolley jack and some blocks of wood that you can use to put under the front wheels that will give you enough safe working room to get at the pump.

The front fuel pump can be got at without taking off the whole bumper - just remove the rear undertray (4/6 bolts/torx head screws) and take out the 6 bolts holding the front bumper/undertray to the front subframe and you can move it out of the way enough to get into the pump. Dont worry if the bolts shear - they are normally quite rusted up. I have some "nutserts" that can be used to replace the threaded inserts in the subframe if they are knacked. Some others on the forum seem to just use cable ties to hold the undertray on.

My local council are trying to put speed bumps in, but if they place them correctly it'll actually smooth the roads out...

Thanks so much that's a really kind offer. I based temporarily at Barnton area. I'm kind of busy with new job and things but it would be great to do some things on the car soon.

If I could take a run out to Penicuik in a week or 2 that would be great so I will pm you nearer the time to see if that would be ok.
