Hello from Florida

Postby 82dmc-12 » Mon Jan 15, 2007 4:10 am

Hello everyone, my name is Ed Ghesquiere and i like in Melbourne Florida. i do not own a Alpine but a DeLorean with a 3.0 Eagle Premier motor i built. i have some questions for people that tune there cars using a fully programable ECU.

Here are some pics of my car and setup.

i would love to talk ignition maps. i have the car running well now but would like to see what the Alpine ignition map looks like before i realy turn up the boost.

Hi Ed

Its a bit academic to compare maps, as you are running different compression ratio, shorter rod length, turbo, exhaust manifolds, cam profiles etc...

You just to need to get it set up with a good dyno/or road tune with a good ear for pinking.

my method is advancing the timing until you blow a head gasket, then backing off four or five degrees. the pinging method is fine for the mid range.

The comp in this setup is 8.5:1. Having a good Alpine base map would let me have a better idea for starting out with boost levels that can do some damage.

Hi Ed,

What comp ratio are you running and how much did the forged pistons set you back?

actually i was serious. of course the question is, what is worth more to you, the head gasket or ultimate performance. i have found the engine extremely responsive to timing advance in the higher speed range at roughly 1.4 bars.

i bet this engine will not survive 40 degrees of advance at 6 grand and 1.2 bars.
