Another 24v update

First proper dyno run:

GTA Turbo (Std) 206hp@ 5780rpm, 188 lb/ft @ 5725 (150@ 3100)

GTA 24V 232hp @ 5440rpm, 227lb/ft @ 5174 (180 @ 3100)

Now all you need is a turbo or supercharger. Sky's the limit :wink:


By the way.

Stage 1

Up to 4000rpm the inlet manifolds are kept seperate. This promotes a pulse effect to assist low speed cylinder filling.

Stage 2

As the revs rise beyond 4000rpm the two butterfly valves that close off the U bend connecting the two ends of the manifold are opened lengthening the inlet tract and bring the pulse effect closer to the cylinder heads.

Stage 3

Above 5000rpm the third butterfly between the two inlets opens.

Torque figures

Thats nice power for the atmo 24v. I've driven one that spec and it felt much faster than a standard turbo. I think somethings up with the torque calculations though - revs are much to high.

According to the supercharger manufacturer your theoretical maximum for a supercharger on the 24V (standard compression) would then be 440bhp (intercooled).

The theoretical maximum for a supercharger on the 12V atmo (standard compression) would be around 350bhp (intercooled).

David, you are right... an air leak on the pressured side, thats why I got the intercooler off you... not fitted yet.

Think thats why the torque is a bit low and the peak so high up the revs. The leak is overcome by the turbo pressure so it still achieves the bhp but a little higher up the revs.
It has got an aftermarket silencer which might explain the over 200hp figure but don't think it was chipped before I bought it... 12 years ago.

Really pleased with the 24v given the warm air intake conditions on a rolling road, and not really fine tuned yet. I reckon that throttle bodies might give another 20hp praps, don't think I can be arsed with the supercharger, but a lot of power nevertheless.

Oh and did I mention the noise! 8) Like no other PRV I've heard 'cept poss a short stroke 310.

Fantastic results! Very impressive...think I'm off to get a 24v conversion now! 8)
Obviously its not nearly as quick as a Gordini turbo....man those things are fast!! :lol:

Rupert I have lost track of what you have been up to, is the 24v the one you were building with the Le Mans bodykit?

P.S. My gordini will kick your asp any day....... only joking :wink:

I'm a little dubious about the effect TB's would have on that engine, given the hoops Pug/Cit obviously jumped through designing the peculiar intake in the first place in order to tune the intake at various RPMs. So with TB's you'll probably get more top end, but you may well lose some of the low end torque.

(used to own/drive an XM V6 24)

Yes, this is the now mythical :cry: wide bodied (Le Mans) 24V conversion....

I really wish I'd bought a Gordinii now I know how much quicker they are - it might have been on the road by now. :lol:

It's not too late, got one up for sale, they are going up in price quicker than a GTA too (percentage wise ) :wink: Shiters sell for £1000 and minters for £3500+, I used to pick them up for £200 two years ago.

Bring the 24v beast at the next get together 8)
