Fuel Filter + No one sells them

Postby technics » Sun Mar 26, 2006 11:32 am

Just a quick one, my friends fuel filter on his 1992 J plate GTA V6 turbo, developed a small hole in it.
We removed it fine, but we tried everywhere for a replacement.

GSF, EuroCarparts, General Traffic, Motorland, Halfrauds, no one had any. I thought it may x ref with another renault, so we started opening all the boxes, but still no luck :-(

We couldn't try renault as they were closed.

I have a Champion made one in my garage, which states its for a GTA and Alpine 2.5 Turbo, but this wont fit, as the original has screw threads either end, where as the Champion one is push fit.

Anyone got any idea's if renault dont stock them ???

Thanks

I had this trouble too....the local motor factor supplied what they said was the right one and it too had plug on ends not screw fittings. I ended up going to Renault......think it cost abut £25!!!!!!

I guess we are talking about the rear filter. Bosch part F5084 or the long No. 0 450 905 084 for a BMW. Use a couple of new copper or fibre washers for a non leaking fitment.

Fram P 3831
Mann WK 830/2

Are also equivalents.

Just got a rear Fuel filter from Euro Car Parts.
Fram no is no G 3831, suitable for Porsche 944 turbo and 928.
Filter is a Knecht KL21, KL22 looked the same too and is for the same Porkers.
You will need to take off the brass connectors from each end but you will get a pair of copper washers.

My old filter was a Renault part 600-100-9030 and marked as a Knecht KL57 and dated 1991, must just be a substitute now.

Euro Car Parts no 503-330-0030 and I got change from a tenner, just!

where is the pre-filter you refer to.
do you mean the one at the front of the car, I think that this can just be any old motor factors push on filter? I'm sure that has been mentioned on the forum too [search].

Yes it's at the front of the car, although I've never actually seen it.

Is it visable from the top or bottom ?

You get to it from underneath - drop the undertray a bit and you'll see it. I replaced mine with one from a motor factor - no ill effects. But the old one doesnt seem to be blocked in the slightest so I might just put it back on.
