Edinburgh Garage/Mechanic

Postby alan » Tue May 22, 2007 12:29 pm

Hi Folks

I have a GTA Turbo 1990

Somehow after recharging my battery and reconnecting - when I turned on the ignition there was a load bang. After that the light for fan not working was lit.

After putting a new battery in the electrics seemed to be ok - at least the lights were normal.

A helpfull AA man spent an hour trying to start the car but without success.

Myself I know nothing about cars so need to know which garage to get the car towed to. AA man said the mechnics at Sighthill (Renault) were good?

I am new to Edinburgh hence lack of local knowledge.

I asked a similar question a few months ago when I had another problem and then people were very helpful but diagnosis but no mention of any garage to use.

For sure if the AA can't start the car I cannot so need specialist help.

Any suggestions most welcome.

Thx alan

:)

I could come and have a look at it, I'm not a mechanic but have sorted a good few problems on my Alp since I bought it :)

Most likely reverse charged. Easily done with a completely flat battery.

Lights work OK until you try to start it... then bang.

If this is the case it will probably have blown lots of fuses and taken out the ECU.

Replace these and the battery and it will probably be OK.
