Maifold/Turbo flange seal, T2

Postby steveatyork » Mon May 21, 2007 7:47 pm

A problem  Firstly as anyone used high temp silicon sealent on the manifold/turbo flange? just a bit reluctant using any sealent before the turbo, its all bolted up and running, but there is a slight leak, a gasket is fitted, i was just having a look on the RV8 forum and a couple of lads are using it on there turbo rv8 conversions, Any suggestions.

2nd prob, the turbosmart boost controller, not a real prob at the mo  but it isnt doing anything  so i presume i have it hooked up wrong  the instructions on the turbosmart www dont really relate to the T2 set-up using a external wastgate i.e. vacume take off on the T2 throttle-body?

Suppose ill have to get a move on with it & try and get it ready for the French car show

Things to do as well as trying to put some miles on the RX7 to run it in before remap and some mods on the TR

CC rad to get fitted
Pump and hoses to fit
Sort the manifold/turbo leak
MOT---Tomorrow
Over to Motoscope for setting up and map the water inj (MF2 controller)

Plus try to get on with some work and keep the wife happy :D

Exhaust paste? Yes. Just be sparing and try and lay it so it gunges OUT rather than IN when bolting up.

I had a leak between my turbo and the waste gate a while ago and used sum gum-gum exhaust paste to tray and seal it up prior to bolting the 2 together again.

When I took the waste gate off again about a month later, all of the putty had gone, I guess the pressure has blown it away. It does go very hard after a while and starts to break up.
