Has anyone looked at this as a replacement for the standard ECU? http://www.megasquirt.info/

Looks interesting for a DIY hacker like me - just wondered if there was anything about the GTA that would prevent it from working (I've seen all the posts about the oddities of the flywheel sensor and various other stuff but can't confess to having fully understood what the issues were).

Prices look good, considering the dollar exchange rate at the moment.

They have a big following with a very active and (I hear) helpful forum.
The Merlin engined rover (In ppc mag) uses one.
If your an electronic techy then they're very cheap as well.
If no one here knows them, I can put you onto some users (not on the PRV motor though).

It looks to be the same as the rest I've been looking into .They all require sensor upgrades/changes etc and a trigger wheel makes life that much easier .Built up versions on EBAY @ £200/350 .

Looks like you can change the set up to deal with your existing sensors - probably needs a little bit of programming knowledge but it seems that the source code is freely available so you should be able to change the way it deals with sensors to match what the GTA is shipped with. Too many other projects on at the moment but this could be going on my xmas list I feel

Speak to Andy Bloxome/Munterhunter on RTOC, he's from Hudderfield and a proffersional ECU fitter and mapper. He's ripped out two OMEX 600's and GEMS units from various cars (2004 Subaru STI V5 and a 1.7 R5 Volvo Turbo conversion) and replaced with Adaptronics...
