Atmo engine

Postby scottydog » Fri Jun 15, 2007 8:21 pm

Is the Atmo 2849cc engine the same as the one used in the Volvo 760 :?:

If so, is it identical or are there some differences :?:

Cheers :!:

Scottydog,
There some differancies with the 280e engine.....dif.pistons higher comp.larger inl. &exh. valves.. dif.cams...even stroke crank... but it does fit by the usual changes....If you decide to make the install make sure you get BOTH computers....one for the inj. & the black one for the ign.

Cheers Eddie.

Thanks for the info' Eddie.

Nothing so adventurous as an installation though. I saw a manual on eBay and was going to bid if it covers my engine

Just picked up on the "2849" and "PRV" and hoped it would be the same.

Cheers :!:

The early K-Jet B28E is basically identical once you swap rocker covers, timing covers and lower crank case over. In fact AFAIK the GTA Atmo and the Volvo 760 were the only two cars on sale in the UK to get the 2849 odd-fire. If it's a B280, then it's a very different engine. If you find a B28E and want to use it, you'll need to cap off the injector ports. Your original carbs and everything will otherwise bolt right up
