My comments are NOT intended to reflect badly on the ECU. It's a very clever piece of kit, but as yet I haven't spent enough time on the rapid learn function to get it to work FOR ME.


Ive just told you I have mapped cars very fast in full adaptive mode as it works perfectly, yet you admitted you have never been able to do it.. SO WHY ARE YOU ARGUING WITH ME ON HOW IT WORKS???

Have you ever asked me (or anybody) how to do it?...Nope...


Actually I've exchanged a lot of emails with Andy on the subject going back a while. How do you know what lambda systems I'm using? FYI I've run a Bosch wideband, as supported natively by the hardware. I agree this isn't as good as a proper Uego setup but it correctly reads and feeds back the AFR to a decent range, verified by my gas analyser.

...and I'll stop arguing when YOU have built a PRV from scratch, wired it up YOURSELF and got it running and mapped up.

The PID controls are nothing to do with the self mapping in UEGO mode (ie true wideband) It only controls the narrowband input which is used for a normal lamda sensor in closed loop mode normally, which is no real use for proper self mapping on boost on the road, not safetly or truely accurately anyway... Simply plug in a true WB system into the serial port, set up the paramaters in the adative fueling window (ignore the closed loop window and PID) and let the WB system (which has all its own PID hardware internal, hence why they are a couple of hundred quid) do all the work. I have a Techedge WB system which is what I use on all the cars I have done. Sticking a 'wideband sensor' on an ECU is in no means a wideband system :roll:

Martin, seeing as you havent even got a PRV turbo to even the same power as even a standard R25 Turbo, even after sticking two turbos, a full rebuild and an ecu on it...and fry most of Tony Smiths wiring in the process of trying to fit an ECU, even though I supplied a plug in loom which you decided to hack apart and rewire, though PROVEN to categorily work as it was plugged into PeterG's car and worked first time.. oh and Tony's which then doesnt idle because you can't work the standard idle speed control valve (and your the PID expert :lol: and Peters car does!, again wired by me on that SAME loom.. :lol: )..then can't get the lambda sensor to work due to the fact that you crimped the earth and live together, claiming adamantly it was faulty units which I exchanged in good will, and it just turned out to be your shoddy wiring and soldering which fell apart and had to be rewired by Tony personally....then please comment when it looks likes I give a damn.. :lol: If I were you I would exchange the gas lighter and smelting pot you use for soldering, and the hammer and chisel you use for crimping, for some decent tools....

Martin, the world is alot bigger than PRV's...There are Lexus, Nissan Turbos, 200sx's, R33s, Renault 5's, Clio and Clio Turbos and R21s, Mazda MX5's all running Adaptronics, in the UK - properly, following my advice. Maybe if you did the same you wouldnt have PRVs making less power than they came out of the factory...

(sorry for late reply - been away)

Okay, there's no love lost here between us two but I never would have seen Tony's car had you been able to get it running in the first place.... (6 months...?) and that "plug in loom" simply did not work and in the process of reverse engineering the entire setup (at GREAT length), found at least three seperate (and critical) faults. Other nasties such as the trigger wheel didn't surface till later.

I've just written quite a long reply which I've deleted. I don't like to talk specifics on what is a customer's car.

The faulty ECU had bigger all to do with anything other than simple failure! It wasn't reading the MAP input correctly and eventually refused to talk to the laptop altogether. By plugging in an alternate ECU, everything worked fine (nothing to do with wiring!) so I went with the new ECU. Don't make shite up, that really does annoy me.

...and I'll say it again, when YOU have built a PRV that runs and idles perfectly on an adaptronic, I'll shut up.

You received Tony's car from me because my old unit was broken into, and all the cars being worked on were shifted out, while the unit was remade secure.

We know the plug in loom works because it did on Peters car, you found wiring faults in original car loom, which made the car not even run on the original ecu, so nothing to do with the plug in adaptor or Adaptronic, but you in your infinite wisdom and arrogance pulled apart the loom, adamant it was wrong, bodged it back together and charged Tony £1500 for the bother...and then didnt even bother to heatshrink any terminals, and promptly the solder joints fell off. Then the trigger wheel incident came down to the fact you left with wiring for it sitting on the exhaust and melted...

Martin, Tony has two ecus of mine which are faulty from your hands, in a box in his garage, and the one on his car currently, you also said was faulty as you said the lambda circuit wasnt working, which turned out to be you crimping the earth and live together. I havent heard from Tony if this ECU works fine now, though I know his car is still not running due to wiring issues, but maybe Ill change that one out of good will too, hey what do I care, its only money, youve only cost me about £1500 in faulty units.. :roll:

Im sure Tony and Steve will both confirm this, so please don't say Im making things up, or Ill send you an invoice for the two...

My car idles perfectly on Adaptronic so whats the deal? Do you want me to take the engine apart today, and put it back together again too, because if I rebuild it or not, I don't think that will make a blind bit of difference to how it idles... :lol:

I think so too!!! By the way.....building a PRV isnt very hard Martin, certainly no test of the super mechanic! I managed it (apart from the oil leak which was due to me being too tight to buy a full gasket set) and Lee has managed it and he's had a lobotomy!!! :lol: :lol: :lol:
