I pretty sure you'll need a trigger wheel, as the standard flywheel doesn't have a pickup. Use a Renix (Clio/GTA/21) single coil pack for administering spark, retain the standard distributor setup (disengage the vacuum advance/bobweights), get a map sensor, and an ignition only setup could be running very quickly.

What I would advise, is when Andy comes down to fit the Adaptronic on your son's car, get him to look at your car too. He can advise you too. :wink:

There's at least 2 in Oz with full EFI getting around...

One is making about 260hp with a stock intercooler, the other was bout 360 before it popped the block!

computer controlled ignition will give a HUGE increase i've been told, the guy here fabricated up a different dizzy unit (sort of locking the dizzy) and then used it to feed the computer. About 10-15hp he told me would be easily had.

The dizzy he used was off an old "holden camira" if thats of any help!

You should be able to lock and modify the original dizzy, or instead of using a crank based trigger wheel, remove the dizzy, use the drive to run a camshaft based trigger wheel, which will allow you to run sequential fueling (later on) but the main bonus is you can run wasted spark which means no need for a dizzy, and just coil packs instead.

wasted spark on a rich running turbo? hmmm heard this might not be the best?!?
might make a good anti-lag system!

You've already used up all the oxygen, so the remaining fuel won't ignite (in theory)

Well any turbo car not running a dizzy runs wasted spark, so 200sx, Skylines, Celica's, MR2's. etc....You'll not find a modern turbocharged car now using distributors really.

hmmm thats what i always figured, but it was Bell's book on Forced induction performance tuning that said to be a little cautious...

That doesn't nessecarily mean they run sequential ignition.

A 4 way coil pack, is in theory 4 seperate coils, but they can still be triggered in pairs.

There is lots of contradictory information in that book. Even written by himself in different sections... :lol:

Ill have a word with Andy n see what he reckons, The GTT is going over to his for a week or so, so when we collect it ill take the T2 over.

The big worry is the AFR readings though at the mo on the T2. running into the 13's at full boost/max revs is a bit weak? what do you reckon Dave? Motorscope said there shouldnt be a prob whith the water injection n ok for ecceleration in the lower gears? maybe booting it for mls on full boost in 5th there could be? or maybe the Methanol mix might help. EGT readings seem fine?

On the present setup John Price reckons the Porche 928 fuel distributor whith four of the ports blanked off (V8) would do the trick,

Yes, 13 is a bit lean. If the car is setup correctly, and with EFi, you shouldnt even need WI at that performance level.

Don't worry messing around with modified Porsche fuel distributors. It would be easier and to use an old RSTurbo fuel dist, or Audi Quattro. It will never be as good as programmable fueling, and in the end cost you more.

Thinking out loud :? :roll: Say if i went the route of the Adaptronic controlling the ignition but the weak fueling taken care of by extra injector(s) (i.e. somthing like having the 5th injector on a esc turbo) and contolled by say a EARL MF2 controller or could the adaptronic come into play :? Think if that sounded a poss one of the problems would be having to use four SMALL injectors as with the water inj set-up
Just trying to get away from a load of fabrication work and hassle :roll:

You can just use the Adaptronic to add the extra fueling on the single (or more injectors). No bother at all.

Ive already sounded Andy out about it, and he's quite happy to go over the basics with you in person.

Thinking aloud 2 :) (For DG) going to take the T2 over to see Andy when we pick the GTT up, a bit mre work then he was expecting :cry:
Re; going for a stand alone for ignition and FUELING on the T2 :? how would throttle boddies work :?: Somone mentioned it and the more i keep thinking with the present set-up it would save on fabrication work? i.e. new intercooler etc +unduing a lot of the work thats been done already? meaning throttle bodies and using the standard intercooler with its four outlets to the TB's Hope that makes some sort of sense :roll:
