Gone :?: :?: as in not there or not working :?: You gotta watch that DG  The lever/switch itself is a fairly simple device and shouldn't take much to fix if it has a problem .Mine was playing up for ages ,I had to rewire the relay in the end and all is good .

I know the feeling ...................
Check the motor's working first ,then the pipes if ok .Mine was very intermittent ,someone in the past had had a go at a rewire but it was w##k.I ended up running some new wires from the relay to motor .

Until recently it just required a bit of searching to get the water spraying and the wipers going but it seems that it's not making contact any more....

How did you wire that up then? Do i need to remove the stalk assembly? Is it tough?

I had this problem a few years back.
I'm pretty sure the answer to your problem is a new stalk/switch unit - it was for me.
I don't remember it being very expensive or difficult to get one - I didn't have to wait. It's a very standard-Renault-looking unit made by Lucas so I would have thought it should be easy to get hold of one.

I think I went through a similar process that's been described here and I'd already ordered a new washer pump (which wasn't really the right one - it was different to what was in there, at least) took it all to bits and still nothing when I wanted screenwash but the wipers worked. In the end, I gave up but had it sorted very quickly at ARR at a very reasonable price.
