Help needed. Engine keeps cutting out when warm.

My GTA turbo cuts out when the engine gets warm. It could be overheating, but I am not sure.

The engine starts straight away when cold, runs normally until the temperature rises, and then cuts out. I was advised by Renault dealers and a local diagnostics expert that the coil and the ECU had probably broken and needed replacing - this was backed up by the fact that when the engine cuts out, there is no spark to the spark plugs. So I replaced the coil and the ECU, but this hasn't worked. The engine still keeps cutting out and there still is no spark on the spark plug leads when it does it.

Is there any other safety device on the engine that can cut the power to the engine when it gets warm, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Crank angle sensor

I'll second that diagnosis. Thats what tells the ecu when to generate a spark according to the rotation of the engine so would tally with your symptoms. I had similar problems, fixed by new Crank Angle/Flywheel Sensor - about £25 from Renault if I remember correctly - was a few years ago.

Perhaps you can get a refund from your experts for telling you to buy more expensive bits than you needed (if only life was that simple!)
