Help i don't know what to do!!!

Postby spryboy1974 » Thu Sep 06, 2007 8:23 pm

I thought i had sold my GTA on the bay tonight but unfortunately i received an email from the bidder begging me to retract his bid as he has just found out his missus is pregnant!
ZUT ALORS!

Problem is even though i have now found somewhere to keep it i have changed jobs which means i will not be able to afford to run 2 cars. There is no point just storing it as it will never be used.
In a way i am sort of glad as when i had it running the other day the 'smoking' problem seems to be getting worse,(when left idling for about 15mins there was a lot of smoke coming out the back,i only usually use it for 2 15mile sprints each week so i haven't noticed it before)!
So at least now i will be able to cure that before i am happy to try and sell again!

Do you guys think i should just let it go for peanuts?
Are these cars really not worth £4000?
Perhaps i was ripped off when i paid £5500 for it last year??

Maybe i would be better off breaking it for spares?
Please let me know what you guys think,i'm feeling a bit p***ed off!

Pregnant!!!! Thats the best excuse I have ever heard, what time did he bid, pub closing hours by any chance?

Sorry that you lost out, but thats the problem with ebay, too many people with big ideas (or high mg alcohol to blood). And whats worse is we by putting them on ebay are driving our cars true, and potential, value down.

Sad to break a running car, that will one day be worth a lot more than you might imagine (I sold my first, and very good A110 for 14K ! Doahhhhh. Mind you I only paid 2.5k !!!)

Mothball it, one day it might put a smile back on your face.

It maybe an excuse but he did bid on it earlier in the week during the day so it is probably more down to my bad luck!
I could mothball it,but it just seems a shame when it could be out there on the road being enjoyed!
Thanks for the reply.

Spry
You say it all 'out on the road' so try not to break it.

All the best, hope you can work something out. (bottle of red works wonders, then you can bid with clear conscience on that Vayron, starting bid £1,000,000) :D

These things come in 3's.
First he gets his woman pregnant (or some one does), then he looses out on a dream car due to lack of cash, what will happen to the poor bloke next?

I tried mine on ebay, not a good place to sell decent GTA's as no-one seems to appreciate a good one.

We also sold our Peugeot 306 TD for £975 recently only to be told by the winning bidder that he had lost his wallet with £600 in it  Wonder where he was getting the other £375 from, the same mythical place that the £600 went to no doubt :!:

It's a bad time to be selling a car at the moment it seems...Everybody is potless :?

Seems to me the whole car market is depressed. I paid £4k for my Atmo a year ago, wouldn't get close to that now judging by what yours reached on eBay.

The Exxy (X1/9) cost £2.4k and had a fortune spent on it. Doubt I'd get £1500 for it now and it's the best unrestored one I've seen anywhere.

Just bought a Megane for my other half - main dealer - £1000 less than guide price.

Good if you're buying, but depressing if you're selling that classic with £1000's invested in it! Only saving grace is your replacement should be cheaper.

"eBay effect" doesn't help - everyone wants something for almost nothing.
