Safrane biturbo info

Renaults have been my favourite car for a long time now. I have had R5 turbos R25 Turbos Safrane V6 and have now a 2.5 20v Safrane. I was looking for a gta turbo. In June I went to see a friend (Andy) who now lives in france. Whilest there Andy took me to his bosses farm. In one barn he has a gta Turbo, a 5 Turbo 2, a 21 Turbo. But it was his daily driver that got my attention. It was a 1995 Safrane biturbo. Although I have heard of them I have never seen 1 before and I want one. I have been looking on ebay and they are about 6000 - 10000k. Does anybody know anything about these cars or someone who has owned one. I just feel like I could be spending money one a car that I can not get parts for and will be a nightmare. Another part of thinks it would be worth it though. Any thoughts?

Had a couple of V6 Safs and the interior is very comfy, although IMO you do feel like you're sitting -on- it rather than -in- it. The self levelling suspension is a total abortion if you ask me, with several hundred thousand miles in hydropneumatic citroens behind me.

Performance, yes. Handling..... not really. Unreliable electrics. I do have the workshop manual, IN ENGLISH.

It's crossed my mind more than once to get this French attempt at a Lotus Carlton, but as the man said, it's only a Safrane... The engine's only as special as an A610's, but you do get that rather funky 4WD...

My 2p, spend the extra and get a Lotus Carlton. It'll go, corner, stop and hold its value better too.
