Steering wheel alignment

Postby scottydog » Wed Sep 19, 2007 6:01 pm

I could do with re-aligning my steering wheel. It's only a notch or two out but it's annoying me (the tracking has been checked and is OK).

I've had a go, unsuccessfully - it's stuck solid - is there a trick to doing the job?

Thanks....

Simon.

There are two jacking screw threads to release it ,other two holes in the locking sleeve .Screw two bolts into them and wind in evenly ,it will free the sleeve from the taperlock .

Cheers Lee - your help appreciated as always.

There are two "kidney shaped" (sort of) holes and two round holes.

Mine has one hex bolt in one of each type of hole. The other round hole has a bolt broken off in it :( Someone's had a go before by the looks of it.

The round holes I assume are the jacking points ?? I seem to remember seeing threads when I looked at the w/end.

Assume therefore that the bolts should be in the kidney shaped holes normally - allowing for some adjustment?

The threaded bolt for the pressing off of the hub is 7 x 1 mm thread. This thread is rare over here, but Renaults are full of them. Normally this size bolt will have an 11mm head.
