I might not own a GTA et al, but that vid still makes me feel sick. I'd rather see a DeLorean smashed up - after all, there're thousands of those, and plenty in poor shape. But fewer than 70 right hand drive cars?! And such a nice one too?!

Words fail me.

I just can't believe this. I tried to buy that car!!

I don't live in England but I had to fly there to sort out a problem. I had seen that A610 advertised on Auto Trader 2 weeks previously and expected it to have been snapped up. I didn't even ring the owner until I got to Luton as I didn't want to get my hopes up.

When I called the owner I discovered that the car was in Buckinghamshire (if I remember correctly) but that it had been agreed for sale and was due to be collected 2 days later.

I was reading this thread and even watched the clip. It didn't really affect me but now I've got to the end of this thread and discovered that the clip featured the same trophy winning low mileage A610 than just slipped away from me I actually feel PHYSICALLY SICK. I'm not joking. God help the owner, he's bound to find out and it's going to hit him hard.

That's me done with ever looking at Clarkson again. I didn't like him in the least but I'd watch the show occasionally.

Sorry, but that's just so f@#*ing wrong. :x I could cry. (I know it's only a car and I should catch a grip but at least I thought that an Alpine fan had just beaten me to it).

The DVD is out today!!!

Here's a quick summary of the Clarkson intro:

The French only made 2 supercars - the Venturi (400GT) which was rubbish and the A610 - A good looking car if you have cataracts

He takes the A610 for a drive and the steering lock keeps jamming on and puts him into a bush. He says that he paid £8250 for the car and has been taken for a donkey.

There is a drag race between the A610 and the G-Whizz (about the same price new). The A610 wins! The G-Whizz is then raced against a table and the table wins. The G-Whizz is then crashed into the table and destroyed.

The A610 is taken for a longer test drive. The power output, weight and handling are all slated. 0-60 is quoted as 5.7 but top speed unknown as 'no-one has been bothered to wait around long enough to find out' To demonstrate the poor handling Clarkson 'accidently' loses control and puts the A610 into a concrete block completely destroying it. This is obviously filmed with no one at the wheel but cuts to Jeremy climbing out of the wrecked car and proclaiming 'there is nothing super about this car'

A big change from the 88/100 'Plastic Fantastic' in Clarksons Top 100 2001

What a pillock he is. How can he praise both cars to extreme only a few years ago, then slag it off like it is crap.

Compared to modern supercars I'm sure it's not so good now, but in its day it was better than a 944, a mondial even a 911 for some.

If he'd trashed Martin Ware's car it would have not been so bad but to do it to a concours is pretty shallow.

I figured I'd make a protest (and christen my new laptop) by possibly downloading the DVD instead of maybe buying it...

While the A610 moment is no less annoying, it's quite comforting when he slides a Porsche GT3 sideways into a barrier...

He says the steering in a Gallardo is maybe the most positive he's ever felt... funny, I have an article on the Venturi 260 on the Venturi UK site that he wrote saying that IS the best he's ever felt. (admittedly circa 1992)

And he finishes off the very last line of the DVD with a crumb of ironic comfort.... apparently the Veyron is built in France...

also I'd just like to point out that the Audi R8, which he raves about, knocks out almost an identical amount of torque at 4500rpm that my Venturi pushes at 2500 (and of which an A610 is therefore just as capable). I know which I'd rather have.

As an observation: it's funny how turbo lag is utterly despised yet VVT and "coming on cam" at a million rpm isn't...?
