T2 blown off by our lads Pug 205

Postby steveatyork » Mon Nov 12, 2007 6:14 pm

Just curious how my 200 ish bhp T2 gets blown off in a straight line by the lads Pug 205 GTI M16?

Im figuring its down to weight? and the T2 been shaped like a fat brick :) , The Pug is striped out and on the same rollers was making 188 BHP, Low down there isnt much in it, into 4th and hes going by me with a BIG smile on his face

Because the Mi16 is a more modern, more advanced engine, which will rev much higher too. Longer legs in each gear.

Bring them both to Bruntingthorpe in a couple of weeks for a proper shootout!!

The timing and power figures will give you the answers you are looking for...

if your previous track record is anythig to go by...... take off all the bling you've bolted onto the T2 to get rid of the excess weight and it might be able to move a bit quicker......boost controller blitz bullocks bulshit guage etc.... oops that was from the ..... GTA "au feu" no?

bring it to brunters and we'll show you what a "hairdressers spider" can do..... eat your words eh???? or is ya too chicken ?????

oh...... get ya £30 out and join the club ya tight wad! or you can't come to brunters!

well I suppose it depend on the spec of the Pugs Mi16 ENGINE

Postby si21 » Tue Nov 13, 2007 10:11 am

I know of a chap who is a owns a pug with such an engine conversion and is fitted with throttle bodies, this guy spent thousands and I mean thousands of poundson it only for another mate to blow him away in a standard 21 Turbo at the top end.

Me thinks you have the aerodynamics of a brick (no offense meant).

The 21 Turbo does boast a CD factor of only 0.2 more than a GTA

Si21 How gutted was the Pug owner enginefrom Pug perfomance sister company of Prima I beleive

Ouch, must have got up the wrong side of bed Andy  Boost controller is a Turbosmart

Tight, Deffo not  Lazy maybe :) If it was as easy to join online like the RTOC OK, I will join though

I think the a standard "Hairdressers Spider" would have the legs of the T2.

To be honest, the speed/power thing doesnt really bother me, theres always the RX7 which is over at WGT today getting mapped and the TR7V8 for speed

By the way, I do like your Spider :) :)

Regarding bringing it over to Brunters, i would luv to "Honest" its running s--- at the mo, so waiting for early next year to go EFI (Not for power-just to make it nicer to drive) but waiting to see how things pan out with the Adaptronic first :?

Steve

P.S.

Suppose i cud always bring one of the other two and see what they go like against a Spider

Yeah its shaped like a brick :) i reckon that has a lot to do with it, Many years ago i had a dimma GTT, think it was around 170 ish bhp compaired with a standard similar spec GTT as soon as it got to 80ish the standard car was leaving it, together what DG mentioned re; the engine comparison as well, its a lost cause :(
But it looks nicer and goes around corners OK

I dont reckon a few gauges ill make the power to weight difference that great
Also his steel cage will be a good few KG's more then my alloy one
Carpet V alloy c plate, again dont reckon that will make the difference

yes i bought it like it :) apart from the reg which is on the RX7  Full asking price as well :)
To be honest Andy i liked the cut down roll bar, each to there own but i think the standard one sits to high, it might save your head but for looks the lower bar makes it look more sleek,

I like the chopped roll bar, thats what I would do, though they look even better with it removed altogether.

I prefer them without a roll bar as well. Frankly if you manage to roll a spider with 6ft track width you deserve to die!
