Getting back the engine\box on ebay, might be worth checking the diff output aren't fooked, because if you look at the vid, the rear wheel\hub\driveshaft is torn right off, and on the pic of the box, the gearbox drive output looks a bit weird and mangled, infact..it looks like one of the shaft casings is still stuck in the box, so whoever bought the other bits on Ebay might be in for a surprise.. :?

No ECU either, and I take it they hacked the loom when they took it out

I'm not looking for big money for my engine and box (about the same as the going rate - Gentleman Price  ) but if there are a couple of kit car dudes looking out for Alpine lump and box on ebay then so be it, I'll give it a go....Did anyone see the VW camper at Donnington with the GTA Turbo (D502) engine in the back, that looked like a 8) conversion.

That VW install was from Bristol .I sold a UN1 to a guy that helped with the install .He never picked the box up as he had a change of plans but has just sold it on to another VW guy .I was going to buy it back off him but will just rebuild the Turbo box when it is out .
I can ask if any of the Vdub dudes are interested in a complete package if you like ???

Do you know what, I just wrote a massive reply, as usual, but what's the point. Dave, go and actually BUILD you own engines. USE your own products. It's so easy to TALK. Telling me I'm not clued up...... fecking hell.

Why bother, when I can get a complete A610 clutch for less than £300 (ain't trade discounts grand) and in this particular case why bother at all when there's one right there that comes with it and by your own argument knocks £300 of the price of the project.

To be honest, you'be probably 'built' more engines than me. But then that probably as mine have never blown up, or I don't buy £50 rusty old seized lumps off Ebay...hard to say really...

Anyone could get one of their bog standard GTA's and start the engine. Voila, they've just made more power than you have so far...to date...So please don't mention you use my products to customers, as its not a very good advert is it really... :?:

Working on a 30 year old, primative designed, low power but tough as nails engine is not an accolade. If people wan't power per pound, and to exceed the boundaries, then common sense says use an alternative power plant - If people want a comfortable 'up to' 280bhp, and happy with that, then they can acheive that, with MY products, and not having to BUILD an engine - but that seems to make you a little redundant...

Not a dig, but stop thinking people really care about 'monster' power PRVs. 99% of people don't need to rebuild engines..If I needed to BUILD an engine, it would be because of a certain power level wanted, and thus wouldnt be a PRV.

Officially though, you do happen to have a powerful PRV at the mo, circa 280bhp....though you havent touched it....maybe you should leave it that way...Some of your Delorean pals agree...

Because an A610 clutch starts to struggles with anything over 300lb/ft....

If its not good for the job, it doesnt matter if its 50p.

You can send a GTA clutch kit away, have a completly upgraded friction plate and a modified uprated cover made, good for just nigh of 500lb ft, with a little firmer pedal action for 300 notes.

Wow, a reasoned reply from Dave...Okay, a few points - and I enjoy a good debate but the personal attacks and "holier than thou" attitudes get on my left nipple quite a lot. I'm sure I'm just as bad at doing that.

You cite an example of a 2.8 odd-fire that's been successfully supercharged. I can point you to a lot of DeLoreans out there with low pressure turbos on them that also go quite well - but they're known for being unreliable. And the piston on a 3 litre NA is very different from that in a 2.8 - and not just the overall diameter.

I'm not saying you can't put forced induction on a standard Laguna lump, but I AM saying that you can't push it as hard, nor would I expect it to be anything like as reliable.

My friend Chris always wanted to go 3 litres because he's a best-of-the-best kind of guy - so did I for quite some time - but by the time I found a place to make me pistons (remember you couldn't supply them at the time) I'd lost heart and other things were getting in the way at the start of this year.

But since then I've also been doing more and more work on the turbo PRVs, including a couple of Venturis (before buying my own) and several GTAs. I came to a simple conclusion - for a DeLorean, a 2.5 turbo is more than enough. I'm doing a conversion right now as you know.but Chris wanted an A610 engine and that's what he got. DeLorean people are funny about their cars. Keeping it PRV is about the only way to increase the power without reducing the value.

As for using your products. Well, I haven't yet found another ECU that'll read the 66 tooth pattern without needing a concept of #1. I'll continue to use the Adaptronic but I'll also continue to advise that it can't read the standard flywheel pattern. I have yet to be convinced otherwise (but happy to be).

As for the rest of it, I've already found alternative sources as over 2 months is not good enough when I'm working for other people. I also want peace of mind that if there's a problem I won't be blamed for it.

Well gents,
Obviously a difference of opinion there! So who can tell me the best route to install a Clio V6 phase 1 engine into a GTA. It comes complete with a six speed gearbox still fitted (no use I believe as in the Clio the engine is transverse?), wiring loom, ecu and most ancillaries and best part of all, it has been offered to me at a (I think) reasonable £1k. Can it be used? Will the UN1 gearbox fit? Is it worth doing?
My car already has a sports exhaust/ air filter.
So, lets see if you both come up with a similar opinion on this?
Thanks.
