Just bought the rear lights and panel. Spoke to the person selling and was told that apart from the engine/box, rear calipers & rear struts (all on ebay), the rest of the car was scrapped. Oh and the seats now reside in her sons mini! (am trying to get him to sell them to me at the mo).

How about having an official Jeremy Clarkson night, say the 5th November and building big bonfires all round the country where car loving folk can take their effigies of the scruffy oik and lob them on the burning infernos?

I guess most car loving folk see him as a good person - it's everyone else that hates him!

I have to say the fun has drained out of Top Gear for me this series

I agree with every single one of you guys, I was so angry   when I saw the clip on You Tube. The bloke is a complete F@~#ing Co#k

If I ever see him driving around I will smash into him in my Civic R, of which couple of months ago he liked and now he has slated that too.

Having now collected the engine and gearbox, I can prvide the "full story" of the car's demise...

The chap selling it was part of a company who were enlisted to add remote control to the three cars in the video (G-wizz, Rover and the 610). In the wide shots of the 610 tonking about, he was driving, not clarkson. It was part of the remote steering control that locked on the steering column, not the steering lock.

The crash took place in 3rd at about 50mph. Because one of the CV joints seperated, there wasn't a massive shock to the gearbox and the engine was still running for a few seconds after the crash.

He was given the task of hauling the carcasses away and told to do with them what he liked. He was stunned at the response to the engine and box, but while he was on holiday, the car was mistakenly scrapped by the farmer on whose land he hires a barn - hence the loss of everything but the rear lights, engine and interior.

He also gave me the subframe and rear hubs - the subframe is undamaged amazingly. He also had a couple of offers after the auction of up to £5k to gazump Chris but refused them.

Both engine and box are in fantastic condition.

The GWizz is being repaired.

I must admit, I was thinking the same thing and net myself a £2k profit! :D

I am delighted with the outcome! The turbo has just 55k miles on it and the other bits that came extra are for sale so please let Martin and I know if you are interested!

Based on what I saw (and felt) at Bruntingthorpe I will now definitely ditch the supercharger idea and go twin-turbo's (hence why the OEM is now for sale).

He was on Jonathan Ross this eve, they showed the infamous clip and he admitted to liking them in 1991 but "changed his mind"

Jay Leno the American comedian and collector of cars appreciates a good one when he sees one. It's a shame that Clarkson doesn't think the same .......

1994 Alpine A610 Turbo | October 21, 2007

Rear mounted Renault V6 Turbo, Polyester bodied 2+2.
Only 67 Right hand drive models were ever made.
At last count there were only 42 remaining, so it's got just about every other sports
car licked in terms of exclusivity.

The A610 and the GTA Turbo have the same gearsets.
