Thats obvious, and even more so on a wet liner setup as two engines might have been setup with different protrusions, and thus put different stresses on the heads.

That's funny cos a minute ago you said

Wouldnt really apply to a wet liner engine. Its not like the heads and blocks are designed as matched sets, and seeing as this is a wet liner engine with variable protrusions there's loads more variables to take into account.

Change your mind, did you? ;)

..and maybe use not as cheap head gaskets.

Where do you suggest buying head gaskets?

Yes, I changed it, you made it sound like your bloke was saying the heads and blocks are matched pairs. Then I actually realised you fitted a pair of heads without checking them to an engine - were you not surprised they went after 100miles?

I do uprated head gaskets for the GTA turbo.

HOLD ON - I did nothing of the sort, I said that a pair of heads that came off an engine that was running perfectly well with no issues (and had been skimmed prior to fitting to that engine) was put onto another block that was equally good, caused problems.

How exactly do you "check a head to an engine"? Check they're both flat perhaps?

Lol, why take heads of a perfectly good engine and fit it to another perfectly good block? Boredom?

Tis a 'universal' fitment, as far as PRV's go.

End of the day turbo has higher cylinder pressures, cylinder temps, water temps and oil temps - which all go past some part of the gasket at some point.

Lol, well when you bought the gaskets, you admitted you would 'take a gamble on them' as they were cheap.

Now you have had a head gasket failure..

This is by no means any indication that the gasket is at fault, but second time around, why take the gamble again

Well Renault list a different gasket on the turbo models to the non turbo, even though dimensionally they are identical, and Im sure they know more than me... 8)
